1. ORGANIZATION

Carriage & Wagon department is headed by Sr. DME/C&W who is assisted by ADME/C&W.
There are 04 BG (LGH, BKN, BNW, & SGNR) coaching depots, 1 BG ART at LGH and 1 MG ART
at CUR, 2(BG) ARMV at LGH & SOG in Bikaner division. There is no Wagon Maintenance
activity in division except DMT maintenance.

(1) 01 SSE and 03 JE (2 CG +1DR) are running under training since Jan’13 & Apr’13 & 01 DR JE
since June’13 respectively (for one year).

(2) Panel of 06 JE under DR quota has been received in the month of Apr’13 out of these 01 under
training as mentioned in S.No.1, 03 under police verification and 02 not reported up to till.

(3) Indent for 5 JE & 2 SSE has been sent to HQ office letter no P-220E/Rec/SSE/ dated 18.10.12 and
letter no P-220E/Rec/SSE/ dated 19.10.12

(4) 27 App Tech-III on C.G. ground are under training.

(5) Panel of 80 Group ‘D’ staff allotted by HQ office vide letter no GM (p) 740-E/RRC/GP-
1800/2/10/Panel dated 04.04.13 out of these offer sent to candidate-65 (Duty resumed-29, under
verification-30 and 06 not reported till date).
 3. COACH MAINTENANCE

There are 04 BG coaching maintenance depots over division, 19 BG Express & passenger trains are
being attended for primary maintenance and 6 BG express trains are being attended for secondary
maintenance by these depot.

4. GOODS MAINTENANCE

No C&W depot is nominated for such activities over division but intensive examination of BG DMT is
being attended at SOG. Total 3 DMT in BG were attended during the year 2013-14.

5. OTHER C&W ACTIVITIES

1. Only Platform return maintenance for coaching trains is being done at SOG, HSR & CUR station.
C&W POINT SURATGARH:

• 04 pairs platform return passenger trains.

• 08 pair for terminating & originating passenger trains.
C&W POINT HISAR:

• 10 pairs platform return passenger trains.

• 01 pair platform returns express train.
• 14 pair passenger & 3 pair M/exp for terminating & originating trains.
• Engine reversal of passenger trains.
• Terminating of passenger trains received from NRLY, JU, BKN, & JP div.
C&W POINT CHURU:

• Terminating examination of MG trains received from JP div.

• 01 M/exp & 01 pair passenger for examination Platform return.
2. Lashing, Chaining, measurement of out going& incoming loads of military special at Lalgarh,
Mahajan, Arjansar, Kanasar, and Birdhwal&Satroad is done. Average 08 outgoing and 08
incoming load are attended per month.
3. To attend road side detachments, brake binding and other unusual over division.
4. Escorting of military specials and other trains as and when required for ODC. Presently on an
average 10 trains are escorted per month.
5. 02 employees per shift were deployed at STPS for post tippling examination.
6. ART & ARMV

C&W depot LGH is having 140 T Diesel BG crane with ‘A’ Class ART. 35 T steam crane with ‘A’ class
ART are provided at C&W depots CUR. ARMV is also provided at LGH & SOG in BG section.

7. IMAGE MAKE OVER

• BKN division is assigned primary maintenance of 38 rakes at Coach Care Complex Bikaner
(BG), Lalgarh (BG), Shri Ganganagar (BG) & Bhiwani (BG).
• Secondary Maintenance of 6 BG trains are being carried out daily.
• Comprehensive Cleaning Contract for Mechanized Cleaning at Bikaner and Bhiwani and
Mechanized Cleaning Contract of coaches (one each at Lalgarh & Shri Ganganagar)
operationalised.
• Inspections under image makeover are being done at coaching depots BKN, LGH, SGNR and
BNW.
• 6 trains of BKN division are covered under these inspections.

• Under these inspections cleanliness at depots and trains, cleanliness at washing lines, OBHS,
Pest and rodent control, Pantry car cleaning and services and linen in trains is covered.
 Comprehensive Cleaning Contract at BKN, LGH, SGNR & BNW:

• Comprehensive cleaning contract has been prepared one for Bikaner & Bhiwani depot and
another for Lalgarh & Sriganganagar depots.

• CCC contract has been started from 12.06.2013 at C&W depot Bikaner and at Bhiwani depot
yet to be start.

• Under this comprehensive contract the following activity has been included;

1. Cleaning & washing of coaches

2. Provision of toiletry in all AC coaches.

3. Intensive cleaning of coaches as per stipulated frequency.

4. Dry cleaning & watering of platform return trains.

5. OBHS in nominated trains.

6. Clealiness of surrounding of depot/ pit line and cleanliness of depot premises.

• NIT for CCC contract at C&W depot Sriganganagr and Lalgarh yet to be published.

Pest & Rodent control in Trains

 Pest and Rodent control treatment of coaches is being carried out through outsourced agency
M/s Ravi Raj Pest Control Ltd., Jaipur. This activity also includes rodent control of pit line
premises.

8. LINEN MANAGEMENT

Linen management of 11 trains has been taken over from commercial department from the month of
July-2011 and managed by Mechanical (C&W) department at BKN, BNW and SGNR depots. The

 Action taken to improve linen management
• The linen is being supplied in kit form (2-Bed sheets & 01 towel) in brown envelope.

• 20 % additional linen is being provided to cope with en-route passengers

• Blankets are washed in every month. The date of washing is tagged on blanket itself.

• Division has provided the printed cover on blankets of 1st AC coach in train no. 22475/22476
(BKN-CBE AC express). Double pillow cover is also being provided in this train in 1st AC coach.

10. ACHIEVEMENTS MECHANICAL (C&W) DEPARTMENT FOR THE YEAR 2013-14:-

• Comprehensive cleaning contract at C&W depot Bikaner and Bhiwani has been awarded to
M/s BVG india ltd, work have been started at Bikaner since 12.06.2013 (except OBHS in three
pair trains) and at Bhiwani yet to be started.
• LOA have been issued on 11.06.13 for setting up of Mechanized Laundry at Bikaner of 1.5T
capacity and NIT have also been prepaired for operation of laundry for three year will be
published shortely.
• The linen Management in trains in Bikaner division has been taken over from Commercial
department in July 2011, after taking the charge work load has been increased and same is
managed effectively by existing manpower.
• Train no 14710/09 BKN-Puri Exp has been started on 18.04.2013 with primary maintenance at
Bikaner.
• With the help of 140Ton B.D. Crane, the following coaches are loaded/ unloaded in DBKN
wagons at given stations.
LGH - POHed MG coaches-loaded-67 Nos (WR-45 + NWR-22)

MG coaches unloaded for POH-67 Nos (WR-35 + NWR-32)

ASSISTANCE REQUIRED:-

1. 10 MG HOW coaches are stabled at Lalgarh for want of disposal. The Proposal for
condemnation of 15 coaches have been sent to HQ office vide proposal no 106M-
10/Cond.Stock/C&W/M-2 dt-20.05.11. Out of 15 coaches, 2 coaches send to NER & 03
Coaches to SCR. The disposal of remaining 10 coaches was sought vide this office letter of
even no. dated 27.02.13. it is requested to convey the disposal of these coaches as they are
lying useless and many items in the coaches are stolen by miscreant.
