EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
AARTH-ASTHA is an organization based in Delhi and was founded in 1993. It is one of the few organizations in the field of cross disability reaching out to the most vulnerable and marginalized sections of the society. Over the years AARTH-ASTHA has embraced more than 10000 families and their children in and around Delhi with a vision of building an inclusive society by recognizing and advocating for the rights of the citizens with disability. In line with our work, AARTH-ASTHA is planning to host an event, a musical play to celebrate the organizations entry into its 20th year of existence and also to celebrate the beginning of a new century of Delhi as the national capital by acknowledging her architectural and structural features aligned towards the goal of making it a barrier free city. This play will also serve as a platform of expression for the persons with disability for an inclusive society as well as spread awareness about different disabilities and their accessibility requirements among the masses. The event will take place on 30th August 2012 at Shiram Center, 4, Safdar Hashmi Marg. New Delhi-1 Generous contributions made towards AARTH-ASTHA, in the past, have aided its various achievements. Your support for this event will similarly go a long way in making not only this event successful but also assist AARTH ASTHA in realizing its vision of achieving an inclusive society for persons with disabilities. All support to AARTH-ASTHA, will be acknowledged on the events publicity, banners at the venue, Space in the souvenir (publication) and also in the annual report. INTRODUCTION
AARTH-ASTHA is a registered, charitable trust dedicated in its journey towards creating an inclusive society where persons with disabilities are respected and valued. We believe that every person, however severely challenged is an equal member of society with the ability of making a positive contribution. Working since 1993, we have been providing services and support to children and persons with disabilities and their families. Recognizing that information is power AARTH- ASTHA has been able to provide direct services by collecting, collating and disseminating information through the Disability Information Resource Centre as well as through ABILINE, AARTH-ASTHAs National Cross-Disability Helpline. AARTH-ASTHA advocates for a Rights Based Perspective with the purpose of not only empowering persons with disability access their rights but also guiding them toward selfreliance. The child being our focal point, our community based programmes provide support services such as habilitation and rehabilitation among other services for children and persons with and without disabilities through our dedicated centres located in Govindpuri, Lalkuan and Sangam Vihar in South Delhi.

THE OBJECTIVE
AARTH-ASTHAs goal is to raise funds in support of the community based rehabilitation programme by hosting a production that will: Celebrate AARTH-ASTHAs 20 years contribution to the field of disability; Celebrate the beginning a new century of Delhi as the national capital by acknowledging her architectural and structural features aligned towards the goal of making it a barrier free city; Serve as a platform of expression for the persons with disability for a inclusive society through fun filled and informative musical and humorous presentation; Spread awareness about different disabilities and their accessibility requirements among the masses Creatively bring into play Sign Language, Braille and various alternative forms of non verbal communication.

BACKGROUND ON THE EVENT


The event will entail various presentations and a delightful play: DASTHAN-E- DILLI. The play is filled with humour, fun, music, & movements, this inclusive theatre production, is a culmination of a series of art based workshops and exposure visits in an attempt to build the understanding of the children on the history of Delhi- its monuments, historical personalities, and its rich cultural heritage. The children of AARTH-ASTHA, with their range of diverse and special abilities, will showcase their talents in presenting the stories of Delhi.

SYNOPSIS OF THE PLAY


DASTAAN-E-DILLI tells the story of the development of metropolis from the time of myth. It opens with a delightful re-telling of Natkhat Krishna and his mischievous childhood exploits on the banks of Yamuna, downstream of Delhi. The next scene is Razia Sultan, the dramatic meteoric rise of Dillis only female medieval ruler. The building of Shahjahanbad follows; and a look at Dilli in its heyday, and then it features 1857: the first step in our march towards freedom. The production continues with the lilting strains of Kaun jaye dilli ki galiyan chodkar, Mirza Ghalibs immortal ode to the city. The production will end with a vision of Dilli in the future, seen through the eyes of its special kids.

ABOUT THE DIRECTORS


Mr. Alkazi is a very well known theatre director, trainer and an educationist. He has worked in the creative arts for thirty six years, and has directed & produced more than three hundred plays for children and adults all over India. The most noted being Pancha Tantra, Maha Shweta Devis 1084 Ke Maa, Mohan Rakeshs Leharon Ke Rajhans, a trilogy of life in Delhi: People Like Us, The Choices After Dark,and most recently Goodbye Forever and Khoya Khoya Chand.

Feisal Alkazi is one of the very few directors who are sensitive to childrens creative ability and he has made a significant contribution to the field of disability: staging several plays starring children with disabilities in Delhi and Jaipur, and directing over fifty documentary films featuring disability related issues. Ms. Radhika M Alkazi is the founder of AARTH-ASTHA, and a Managing Trustee. She is a trained basic developmental therapist for children with cerebral palsy, and a trained counsellor. She has a Masters Degree in Mass Communication Research and a Post Graduate Diploma in Journalism. Theatre has been a passion for Ms. Alkazi. She has been involved in theatre for the last 25 years. She has written scripts for over 20 films in the area of disability. While making herself a part of theatre through acting, she has also directed many childrens plays with a focus on bringing in the theatre component into education. She has also conducted theatre workshops in schools and other educational institutions.

SOUVENIR
It gives us immense pleasure to inform you that we will be releasing an illustrated souvenir on this occasion as a mark of our celebration of AARTH-ASTHAs 20 years of existence. The souvenir will feature the childrens creativity, their outlook on the world and some major achievements of AARTH-ASTHA. We have a long journey ahead, with a lot more milestones to achieve. We very much hope that you will join us and children in our endeavour, by placing an insert and add value to our souvenir. Work intensively with more than 200 children with disabilities and their families belonging to poorest and most vulnerable sections of the society, with a focus on inclusion in the major systems such as schools and ICDS programmes; Work with children who are already in school with a focus on their retention in the school system; Initiate a life skills program for children and young adults with disabilities to inculcate the spirit of self advocacy and independence.

MODE OF PAYMENT:
The mode of payment shall be Cheque/DD in favour of ASTHA. Although the organization is known as AARTH-ASTHA, the registration and bank accounts are in the name of ASTHA. Kindly note that your contribution will be accepted as donation and is eligible for tax deduction under u/s 80G of the Income Tax Act.
