be upgraded. They are Cobb County Airport, Dobbins Air Reserve Base, Gwinnett County Airport, Paulding NW Atlanta Airport, Barrow County airport, Cartersville airport, Cherokee County airport, and an undeveloped site in Dawson and Forsyth counties. Dobbins and Cobb could not be the best market, as none of the sites were found to be financially feasible. Based on reports of the findings a substantial source of alternative capital financing is required to achieve the balance between cost and benefit. The report said that the second airport would have to have a much smaller customer base, thus making it harder to get funding and would raise passengers costs. Start up airports have more difficulty getting federal money and issuing bonds for their project. The cost would range from $1.4 billion to $2.9 billion. The cost would make it difficult to attract airlines. Hartsfield-Jackson has among the lowest costs now in the nation. Third: Most large metro areas have two commercial airports, but not all. Fourth: Atlanta would be doing an unprecedented thing if it developed such an airport with no successful developments of supplemental airports to serve local traffic. Here are some of the feelings of what the study had to say. The General Manager of HartsfieldJackson, Louis Miller, said that even without a second airport they could expand further. Delta s Chief Executive, Richard Anderson, feels that Hartsfield-Jackson can take care of the airport needs of the area. What was interesting to note was that Governor Nathan Deal, Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed, and the Metro Atlanta Chamber of Commerce would not comment on this new Federal Report. There is one thing here that is apparent that the Metro Atlanta Region has a good many smaller municipal airports that do quite a bit of trade that take the load off of Hartsfield-Jackson. The other airports not mentioned around Atlanta are: Peachtree DeKalb Airport in DeKalb County; Falcon Field in Peachtree City in Fayette County;

Unlike many of my friends in the Libertarian Party, I didn t get involved in the local parties and the delegate process, nor was I even involved in Ron Paul s campaign here in Georgia. I did vote for him in the presidential primary, but that was about it. But yet, I was essentially told yesterday, because of my political viewpoints, that my vote in these local races wasn t wanted.

Can An Airport Win An Election?

By Doctor This article is to inform the citizens of Henry County about a Federal Report that was done and the AJC had to get a do a freedom of information act request to get the report. The report is about the airports and Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport. Many political leaders and the local chambers of commerce did not really want this report released because it does not suit them politically. Here below is the story. The Federal Government did a report on the idea of aviation in the Atlanta region. The report just completed has examined and looked at eight potential locations for a second major airport to Hartsfield-Jackson International. The report said none are economically feasible. First: The report considered that another airport would not replace Hartsfield-Jackson, but would supplement the International airport. It would give local residents a way to fly in and out of the Atlanta area. Second: The study focused on 8 potential sites, seven of which were existing airports that could

Charlie Brown Airport in South Fulton County; Griffin-Spalding County Airport which is about to build a more advanced and larger facility; and of course South Atlanta Regional Airport formerly Tara Field purchased this past year by Henry County from Clayton County. The Henry County purchase of Tara Field has brought on much consternation with many residents, especially with the county being strapped for tax money. Remember what the Federal Report had to say, Start up airports have more difficulty getting federal money and issuing bonds for their projects. Since this is an election year this can be used for a political discussion. My concern is that higher taxes in the form of property taxes and the T-SPLOST loom on the horizon also. And no doubt there will have to be use of general fund taxes to help take care of this facility and then I wonder if it was really needed

Bo wants to protect the people of the 1st district and Henry County. He will fight to keep our police and fire departments at the top of the Southern Crescent. Bo will fight for the little man who needs someone to be in his corner. So in July don't forget to vote for Bo Moss for the 1st District BoC of Henry County.

into Berry Hill Airport back in the late 1970 s and early 1980 s. These types of things have put a damper on the image of the City of Stockbridge that will be hard to rid itself. The question that many citizens like to have answered is this: When will all the interruption, deviation, and corruption end?

Stockbridge Loses Its City Administrator

By Doctor The City of Stockbridge is today without a City Administrator. Mr.

Authors Note: All the above is public information.

Ray Gibson was relieved of his position by Superior Court Judge Wade Crumbley in Henry County Court today. Judge Crumbley looked at the Stockbridge City Council s extending the position of Mr. Gibson as not legal in his opinion. Judge Crumbley will make his final decision on the matter in 30 days. Currently this will leave the duties of the city in the hands of the Mayor. Attorney Patrick Jaugstetter spoke for Mr. Gibson bringing up good points about why Mr. Gibson should have kept the job. The Judge though decided to side with the Mayor in this case. The Stockbridge City Charter is always a matter of one s own opinion when reading the basics of the charter. Now the duties of Mr. Gibson will fall back upon the Mayor and it is interesting to see if he will be able to handle those duties. He must go out and find a replacement for Mr. Gibson since he did notwant him in the position. And a personal note here: If the Mayor does not perform properly and cannot handle the job will he be replaced? It is an interesting situation. We have watched many things happen in the City of Stockbridge over the years. Such as for example the 1974 murders of the Band Leader and Jonesboro High Student covered in the recent book The Sins of Henry County. Then the fight over eminent domain. And other small sordid things that have happened within and just on the outskirts of the city like illegal drugs being flown

We need to promote business growth that doesn't cost the tax payers. We need to be certain that our government has our best interest in mind. I ask

Here's Some Advice for our Candidates this Year

By Doctor Mike Moon The Fool on the Hill has some advice for those who seek public office whether it be in Henry County or anywhere else for that fact; make sure you know what you are doing. There are many things that will come your way as the political season goes. 1. There will be those who will come out of the woods to discredit your candidacy almost as soon as your name is in the arena. 2. There will be those who will come to you wanting favors in return for their help. 3. There will be those who donate money and will expect something in return. 4. There will be those who you think are your friends, but they have something else in mind. 5. You will attack your opponents and then become close friends. 6. You will have dinner with those who could care less just to add to some glory in their life. 7. But the worst thing that can happen to you is that you lose your identity. 8. And you learn to listen to those who are sharpening their knives at the same time. Now folks enjoy the election season because it is going to be a show. There are some very intelligent candidates out there and then there are those who couldn t find their backsides with a map.
