Connect with Us
A new member, Laura Fullard, was inducted into the Okefenokee Toastmasters Club on Wednesday, May 2nd by club President, Bud Montero. The club would love to meet the goal of adding five new members by June 30th as part of Toastmasters Internationals Beat the Clock How did you find out about the Okefenokee Toastmasters Club? Two people had a part in my joining, but mostly Tom Strickland. He and I were both members of the Okefenokee Track Club. He asked me one time to attend a meeting, and I said, NO WAY, I'm not interested. But approximately one year later, I realized that I was bored and wanted a challenge, and that same week I bumped into Tom again at a Business After Hours function. He asked me again, and this time I said yes! I was ready for a change in my life! I had also been reading about Toastmasters in the newspaper, and I had a neighbor, Carolyn Morton Akins, who attended regularly. I thought that if it was so important for her to get up extra early for a 7:00am Wednesday meeting, it must be good. It took only one visit and I was hooked! I joined immediately.
