Title: Formatting your paper for Conference Memoirs

Authors Paper Length The maximum paper length for Conference Proceedings is 10 pages, including figures and tables. Page Dimensions and Margins Manuscripts must he submitted on 8.5 x 11 -in. [21.6 x 27.9cm] paper. Margins should be as follows: Top: On the first page, the text of the paper should begin 1.75 in. [4.45 cm] from the top of the page. An 0.5-in. [1.27cm] margin should be used on the top of the following pages. Left: 0.5 in. [1.27 cm] Right: 0.5 in. [1.27 cm] Bottom: 1 in. [2.54 cm] The body copy of the paper should be in two-column, single-spaced format with 0.5 in. [1.27 cm] between the columns. Page numbers and headings, in 8-point Arial, should appear on Page 2 and all subsequent pages. On evennumbered pages, this should include the page number flush left, the author names in all capital letters in the center, with a 1/2-point rule underneath. On odd- numbered pages should be the title of the paper in all capital letters in the center, and the page number flush right, with a 1/2-point rule underneath. Style The elements of the paper are listed below in the order in which they should appear. A format, or style, for each element is provided. If you do not have the specified typeface for an element, match the appearance as closely as possible. Title. The title of the paper should he flush left, below the ACGGP logo in 14-point Arial, upper and lower case. Authors. Only the full name and company affiliation of each author should appear flush left below the title in 10-point Arial. Do not include address, credentials, or degrees in the author line. Copyright Statement. The following statements should appear 2 lines below the author line at the top of the first column of text in 6 point Arial.

Separate the copyright statement from the rest of the paper with a 1/2-point horizontal rule. Body Copy. The text of the paper should be two-column, single- spaced in 10-point Times Roman type, fully justified. The first paragraph of each section should be flush left; all other paragraphs should be indented. Do not underline any words. Headings. Major headings and subheads under them should have the styles listed below. First level: Return above head, flush left, 10-point Arial bold, upper and lower case. Hard return at the end so that the head is on a line by itself. Second level: Return above head, flush left, 10-point Times New Roman bold, upper and lower case, end with a period, no hard return (text of the subsequent paragraph will be on the same line as the head). Third level: Indented 0.2 in. (0.51 cm), 10-point Times New Roman bold italic, end with a period, no hard return. Fourth level: Indented0.2 in. (0.51 cm), 10-point Times New Roman italic, end with a period, no hard return. Mathematical Material. Number equations sequentially as they appear in the paper and enclose the number in parenthesis preceded by a line of dots. For equations in appendices, do not continue the numbering sequence from the body of the paper. Instead, number these Eq. A-1, A-2, B-1, etc. Simple fractional expressions should be written with a slant line so that only a single line is required. Equations must be clear with all symbols identified in the Nomenclature. Make sure that exponents, superscripts, and subscripts are positioned properly. Acknowledgments. These should appear in the same formal as the body of the text under a first-level heading. Nomenclature. The same format as the body of the paper is used under a first-level heading. Definitions of symbols should include the symbol, an equal sign, an accurate word definition, the dimensions in which the quantity is measured, and the units of measure. References. References are in 9-point Times New Roman with a hanging indention (0.26 in. - 0.66 cm) after the reference number (i.e., the second line does not return to the

margin but begins where the indented first line began). Names of books and journals should be in Italics. Titles of papers presented at a meeting, articles from journals, or chapters in books should be within quotation marks. Volume numbers should be in bold face. Metric Conversion Factors. You may use either customary or metric units of measure, but one system should be used consistently throughout the paper, including in figures and tables, and conversion factors should be listed at the end of the paper. Appendices. If you have appendices, they should follow the same format as the body of the paper under a first-level heading, Tables. Tables should be used only if they present information more effectively than running text. All tables should be cited in the body of the paper. Tables should be numbered with Arabic, not Roman, numerals. They should be the smallest size possible without loss of clarity. Table headings and column headings should be as concise as possible. Figures. All figures should be cited in the body of the paper. Figures should be numbered with Arabic, not Roman, numerals. Do not put boxes around your figures. Note: Tables and Figures may be placed anywhere within the document (i.e., close to reference in text) or grouped together at the end of the paper.
