Dear Mr. Curry,

I am writing in regards to your overdue rent payment for your

lighthouse. It’s isn’t like you to be late on your rent and so I am

wondering why this situation has come about. As you know, I’ve

been your land lady for many years and you can always speak

with me about anything.

If there has been trouble with family matters or something else,

please let me know. I’d love to help if there is anything I can do. I

understand if you’ve had trouble lately and I’d be happy to accept a

late payment. But please let me know why your rent is late so we

can clear up this confusion.

Sincerely, Margaret Tokiford

Dear Mrs. Tokiford,

I am most sincerely sorry for not paying my rent as punctually

as usual. I guess I do have what may be considered a family issue,
but I’d say it’s say it’s more of a blessing. I found a brand new
baby boy washed up on the shore in a type of capsule. I’ve been
going through lots of legal processes to obtain a birth certifi-
cate and parental custody for him. I had to get it sent from all
the way in Hawaii. I actually named him after me, and his middle
name “Orin” is named after the word he keeps repeating. It’s quite
amazing to me that he survived the ocean and can utter words.

Of course his capsule kept him safe from the harsh seas. I
swear to you Mrs. Tokiford this bundle of joy is the most amazing
miracle I’ve ever seen. Then again, I’m not one for judging mira-
cles on account they are so scarce in our little town.

Anyway, I apologize again for my delayed payment. I have en-

closed the rent money in this envelope in cash, to the very last
cent. And please Mrs. Tokiford, feel free to come visit the baby
anytime. When Delilah is born, I’m sure little Arty would love to
have a playmate. Tell Charles I say “hello”.

Sincerely, Arthur Curry.

Dear Susie,
How are you? I hope Boston is treating you well. Is Frank hav-
ing better look at work nowadays? Rachael must be growing up a lot
lately. I know it’s her second semester of sophomore year now,
huh? I hope high school is treating her well, too. Does she have a
boyfriend yet?
Lumeria has been having lovely rains this week. Warm rains, as
usual. When it gets sunny it’ll be fun to watch all the sailors work
on their boats and take them out of the harbor. Margaret, her
daughter Delilah, and I went on a little trip to go shopping on Mel-
rose last week. When we got back, Orin (Arthur’s boy) was so upset
that Delilah was gone. They are the cutest kids. And when they’re
together, it’s the sweetest thing. Delilah looks up to Arty so
much.(You know, we call Orin “Arty”, too. So if I write Orin, and
Arty, just remember that I’m talking about the same person.
Sorry to confuse you.) She used to not want to lear how to walk,
but as soon as Orin could walk, she was trying to walk, too. He’s
starting to try to swim, and now Delilah gets so frustrated when
she can’t swim as well as him. I got Delilah some clay for her third
birthday last month and she absolutely loves making little sculptures
of everything.
Are you guys going to try and fly out here soon? I know that
California is a wee bit far, but I’d really love for you guys to come
and visit the kids. And Margaret and Charles would love have you
over for dinner some night. I miss you lots!
Love your sister, Kate.

Dear Dad,
Fear not for this isn’t a suicide note. No, I am quite safe in the hands of the sea. Yes, the sea. Dad, I have to
venture off. I may only be sixteen, but the sea is calling to me. Do not try to send a letter to any port, for that will
do you no good. The Coast Guard will also be helpless to you. Where I venture is not on the sea or near a shore. No, I
will be underwater. I have found a land of people that are just like me! They have webbed hands and gills, yet still
appear to be human, just like me! Most of them lack tails, unlike the large colony of mer-people. They do find me a
bit odd because of my blonde hair, though. Oh! I forgot to tell you. I have actually seen these creatures before. I’m not
deriving all this from children’s books, don’t worry. Remember when I went diving last Tuesday? Well, I found them
dad. I found people that are just like me. I can’t even express my joy through pen and paper, but know this: I’m happy.
I’m happy with these people. Yes, I get teased a bit, but no more than the teasing I get from Delilah next door. I love
you dad and I’m not leaving because I’m not happy enough with you. Do not doubt my sincerity for I’m telling the truth
when I say that my leaving has absolutely nothing to do with you. I love you dad and I’m going to miss you. Keep a look
out at night for me, maybe I’ll blow you a kiss goodnight.
Love, Orin (oops, sorry...Arty)
P.S: Please tell Delilah I’m sorry, and I’ll miss her. And...goodbye.

Fortune cookie
Dear Delilah,
I’m sorry if I ever confused you about my feelings I have for you. Allow me to clarify: I love you. I’m sorry I never
had the balls to admit it to you earlier. Please forgive me. Le me take you out tonight, your choice. I’m always happy
to go anywhere with you.
Sincerely, Orin

A blonde, masked man dressed in a tight orange shirt and scaly emerald green pants was spotted shooting out
of the water off the shore of Malibu Beach rescuing a little girl who was drowning. Before any lifeguard could
get to her, the anonymous hero had already saved the girl. Tourists and other beach goers tried to interrogate the
man about his identity, but told them all to call him “Aquaman”. Witnesses say that he swam at lightning speed,
and contrary to his very human appearance, “he must have been some other species, like maybe part fish or
some type of mermaid,” said 56-year-old Sam Finnley of Los Angeles.

The recently discovered “Aquaman” that was first seen in Malibu, California, was seen in Kahalu’u, Hawaii.
He was said to have been the one who saved a small fishing boat from being attacked by a swarm of hammer-
head sharks. “The sharks were everywhere and snapping at the hull of the boat. They bit out some huge holes
and so, to try to extend our lives as much as possible as we watched our death approach us, we climbed up as
high as we could up the boat as it started to sink. All of a sudden we looked out at the horizon and saw some-
thing speeding through the water, heading straight for us, in what looked like and underwater torpedo. But then
we saw all the sharks fly over us in a huge net that looked like it was made of seaweed. Before we knew it, our
boat was flying over the water, heading towards our pier. When we looked down through the holes at the cock-
pit, we saw a blonde, masked man that was holding up our boat with his bare hands, while running us across the
water like a bolt of lightning! It was Aquaman!” says Tim Meyer of the events that took place yesterday after-
noon.

It seems as though Aquaman is making his way around the globe. Last week he was spotted in Tokyo and
two days ago in Venice, Italy. This morning, many onlookers saw him run across the water under the London
Bridge.

The famed super hero is really a mystery. Many wonder if he’s even human. Many animal rights activists
have notions of their on about him. Some believe that he may be harming some underwater creatures, but
others have rebutted those protests, informing everyone that all his rescues are, in fact, quite humane. De-
spite all the opinions about Aquaman, his identity is completely unknown. Many would expect that his name
would be figured out by no, considering that he only wears a half mask, but it seems that he just moves to
swiftly for the cameras!
