1. Homemaking Skills: Learn Them and Pass Them On

A Taste of Whats to come in the Workshops Please check four workshops and keep this sheet for future reference

President Ezra Taft Benson said we teach by example our attitude toward homemaking and that homemaking is the highest, most noble profession to which a woman might aspire. This workshop will focus on knitting, crocheting, hand sewing, mending, canning and. Please bring your crochet hooks and knitting needles! 2. Blessings of Food Storage One of the distinguishing characteristics of this inspired gospel-centered endeavor is its emphasis on personal responsibility and self -reliance (Bishop H. David Burton). Food storage is an inspired principle that aids in self-reliance. How does food storage bless our lives? In challenging economic circumstances, how can we begin or continue to build home storage? What principles of faith are we teaching our families when building food storage? 3. A Song of the Heart-Making Music TogetherShare your talents and testimony through song by participating in the Choir. Join friends, relatives, and those attending the conference with you! All conference participants who wish to join the choir are welcome. We will be singing My Sisters Hands, by Sally de Ford in the final program on Saturday. Its all about being sisters! 4.Busyness Does Not Define Our Worth (Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin): Simplifying Our Lives Our daily to do lists are long. How do we keep it all in balance and decide what is really critical and what we can lay aside? How can we evaluate ourselves to see if we are committing our time and energies to the things that matter most? What steps can each sister identify to simplify her life, putting things of first importance first, placing emphasis where the rewards will be greatest and most enduring, and ridding herself of the less rewarding activities (Sister Belle Spafford)? 5.A Multiplicity of Blessings Awaits within the Temple (Joseph Smith) Temples are sacred, holy places. They are a source of spiritual power and strength. They are a place of revelation (Sister Silvia Allred). How are the priesthood blessings received in the temple and renewed through regular temple attendance significant in protecting us and our families against the adversary? How do the saving ordinances of the temple elevate us to higher living? How does temple attendance bring us out of darkness into his marvelous light (1 Peter 2:9)? 6.The Uses of Adversity The gospel of Jesus Christ is not an insurance against pain, it is a resource in event of pain. (Carlfred Broderick) How can we allow our trials to hone us, purify us, teach us and not destroy us? "But if Not?" (Daniel 3:17) How do we respond when faced with unexpected and often long-term difficulties or unfulfilled righteous desires? How faithful can we be, when tribulation comes into our lives? 7. *An Inclusive Circle of Sisters: Reaching Out to All* Sister Elaine L. Jack said, We are part of a grand whole. We need each other to make our sisterhood complete. President Thomas S. Monson said that charity manifests itself when we are tolerant of others and lenient toward their actions. How can we be inclusive of everyone regardless of ethnicity, marital status, education, income level, or time in the Church? How do we develop a sisterhood of belonging and friendship so Relief Society is a refuge and protection for each woman? 8.Trusting in the Lords Timetable My words are sure and shall not fail . . . But all things must come to pass in their time (D&C 64:3132). We need to trust in the Lords timetable, not only for ourselves but for others as well. The Lord is the master planner. Elder Dallin H. Oaks said, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ prepares us for whatever life brings . . . Wise are those who make this commitment: I will put the Lord first in my life and I will keep His commandments. How do we learn to have more faith in the Lord and in His timing? 9. Rescuers among Us: Lending Strength to Those Who Struggle Let us have compassion upon each other, and let the strong tenderly nurse the weak into strength (President Brigham Young). It is your privilege to go into homes and exchange robes for rags (President Spencer W. Kimball). As mothers, sisters, aunts, friends, visiting teachers, how can we help those who are afflicted with depression, substance abuse, addictions, disabilities, grief? How can we extend the hand of fellowship and charity to those among us who are struggling? How can we be the rescuers in behalf of others whose loved ones are praying for them? How can we lift up the hands which hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees (D&C 81:5)? 10. The Atonement: Our Greatest Hope (President James E. Faust) There is no sin or transgression, pain or sorrow, which is outside of the healing power of His Atonement (Elder C. Scott Grow). The Saviors Atonement can help us heal from our pains, forgive wrongs done to us, and help us to repent of our transgressions.

11.Mormons Warning: Arming Your Home and Family The Nephites prepared countless times for possible enemy attacks, both expected and unknown. As mothers, wives, and sisters in the gospel, we too can cause the adversary to be exceedingly astonished at [our] manner of preparation (Alma 49:9 and Alma 48:710). We are confronted with evils and temptations in obvious and subtle ways. How can we prepare ourselves and those we love for Satans attacks? (Includes new media ) 12. Managing Our Stress Buttons Stress is a regular part of our lives as we are constantly having to react to changes that require us to respond or adjust. Learning how to manage stress is essential for our physical and emotional health, in dealing with educational demands, relationships with family and friends, church callings, and more. How can we deal with emotional challenges and cope with failure and frustration? How do we accept the Saviors offer, Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid (John 14:27)? 13.Imperfectly Practical No matter our talents, education, backgrounds, our abilities, we each have an inherent wish to create something that did not exist before. (Pres. Uchtdorf) Come and learn some fun ways to Re-Purpose, Re-Live, and Remember! ***We want to learn from each other! If you have fairly small items that you have re-purposed, then please bring them to the Conference for display. If your item(s) can go on or beside a table easily, then they are the right size. 14.Finding Peace within the Gospel When a Marriage Ends All who have been through divorce know the pain and need the healing power and hope that come from the Atonement. That healing power and that hope are there for them and also for their children (Elder Dallin H. Oaks). What helps us remain faithful to the gospel after divorce? How does faith in the Atonement bring resilience and peace? What can members and Church organizationsdo to help the family members involved with a divorce? How can we avoid judging those who have experienced divorce? 15.You Either Have to Laugh or Cry. I Prefer to Laugh. Crying Gives Me a Headache (Sister Marjorie P. Hinckley) To busy women, wives and mothers, little day-to-day situations can sometimes become exasperating. What patterns can help bring order while maintaining family serenity and sanity? How can choosing the amusing replace frustration and help us meet loved ones differing needs? How can we help our children learn to smile as they cope with challenges? Home Decorating Tips and Art Project Brighten, enliven and enjoy your home! How to hang pictures and arrange your rooms with color and flair. Then let's have fun and paint our own box with textured paint !! 17. Speak Well, Share Well: Accentuating the Positive in Your Spouse Avoid ceaseless pinpricking. Dont be too critical of each others faults. Recognize that none of us is perfect (Elder Joe J. Christensen). In a marriage, how can we better see and build on our spouses strengths rather than find fault or complain about the others actions or inactions? How can we accentuate the positive in both public and private conversations? 18. Penny-wise and Unencumbered: Wise Financial Management In 1933, the First Presidency warned us to avoid extravagance; cultivate habits of thrift, economy, and industry; to live strictly within our incomes; and to lay aside savings for the times of greater stress that may come to us. How can we guard against unrealistic wants getting in the way of our efforts to live within our budgets? How does being wise financially help us keep an eye single to the glory of God (D&C 4:5)? 19. What Matters Most Is What Lasts Longest (Elder M. Russell Ballard): Staying Connected with Family Family gatherings can create memorable traditions. But when parents and siblings live far awaymaybe even on different continentsmaintaining family connections can become challenging. What are some ideas to help us stay in touch with family members when distance separates us? How can we use family reunions, family newsletters, modern technology, social media, and other ways to keep our families close and connected? 20. Helping your Children Attain Their Potential Parenting can seem like a daunting task. How do we train our children to learn WELL, to be independent, responsible, welladjusted and Christ-centered? How do we enrich their intellectual and spiritual learning capabilities? How can we make our home a stimulating, loving, safe haven from the world? Appropriate for parents with children of all ages. Let's share our experiences!
