Innovative Engineering Inc (IEI) is uniquely qualified to provide structural design, engineering analysis and project management services for a broad range of aviation facilities including airport hangars and related operation and support facilities. With more than two decades of experience, we understand the many challenges for airports to increase production, reduce costs, and maintain or replace aging infrastructure. We offer innovative design solutions using leading-edge design and analysis techniques, codes and software to meet these challenges. Examples of our aviation experience are presented below. HMS Host, ECCO Restaurant, MHJIT, Atlanta, Georgia Structural design for this 4,365 square foot free standing Restaurant located at Terminal F, Club Level.

Delta Air Lines, Sky Club - Concourse A, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, Atlanta, Georgia. Structural design for a 15,700 square foot, 2-story Sky Club renovation located at Concourse A for Delta Air Lines, which is adjacent to Gate A17.

Delta Air Lines, Sky Club - Concourse D, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, Atlanta, Georgia. Structural design for a 5,775 square foot renovation and addition. Concrete framed elevator openings were enlarged and a steel frame stair tower on conventional spread footings was added at Concourse D adjacent to Gate D27.

Aviation Project Experience

Delta Air Lines, Sky Club Terminal F, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, Atlanta, Georgia. Structural design for a 13,062 square foot, 2-story Sky Club tenant build-out and addition including mezzanine and outdoor patio located at Terminal F for Delta Air Lines. Delta Air Lines, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, Atlanta, Georgia: Jet Bridge Replacement at Concourses A, B & D. Hold Room Expansion and elevator addition at Concourse D including stair and escalator demolition and floor infill. FIDS Monitor supports at Concourses B & D

Design-Build Hangar, Marine Corps Reserve Center Squadron, Robins AFB, Georgia Fast-track design-build project included new 40,375 Sq. Ft. hangar, and the renovation of several existing buildings. The new hangar required a complete structural design including structural steel super-structure with long span trusses, serviceability (floor vibration), anti-terrorism and force protection requirements, two (2) 7-ton overhead bridge cranes and aircraft loadings to meet a design life in excess of 20 years. The slab design for the hangar utilizes state-of-the-art concrete mix and joint design, and the foundation utilizes middepth stone aggregate columns in lieu of deep foundations.

Aviation Project Experience

Delta Air Lines Airport of the Future and Airport 21 Multiple Domestic Locations Engineering and design for a multi-million dollar telecommunications upgrade including tenant fit-up and facility renovation work at airports including ATL, CMH, CVG, DEN, IAD, JFK and SAN. Project included engineering design and analysis of signage and millwork including self contained air-conditioned curbside counters and suspended articulated bag room computer enclosures. Delta Air Lines, Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Line Maintenance Building, Hartsfield International Airport. Structural engineering analysis of existing 21,000 SF single-story steel frame building structure for new loads and design of roof frames for four new roof top air handling units. AirTran Airways, North Cargo Building, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport Structural engineering and design for a 7,800 Sq. Ft. Ground Support Equipment (GSE) Maintenance Shop Renovation. Continental Airlines, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, Atlanta, Georgia Structural engineering and design for a Mezzanine Addition to Air Cargo Facility. ASA North Hangar Modifications, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport Structural engineering and design for light gauge metal framing. Delta Air Lines, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport Structural engineering and design Museum 767 Access Tower Stair. Delta Air Lines, Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, infrastructure work including Communication Rooms, Ticket, Gate, Customer Service and Curbside counters. Robins Air Force Base, Hangar 83 Renovation, Warner Robins, Georgia Structural design for the renovation of Hangar 83 Docks 1, 2, 3 and 4 (190,000 SF) to accommodate the maintenance of larger C-17 Aircraft. Hangar door openings were enlarged to 58 ft. and "pavement" was removed and replaced with a state-of-art structural slab-on-grade. An "as-built survey" was conducted prior to commencement of engineering work. STAAD Pro was utilized in the 3D analysis and design for gravity, wind and seismic loads. AutoCAD, MicroStation, WRAFB and Unified Facility Guide Specifications were utilized on this project.

Aviation Project Experience

Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport, Hangar Design, Gainesville, GA. Structural engineering and foundation design for 13 new pre-engineered aircraft hangars totaling 96,270 SF. The latest government design standard TM 5-825-3/AFM 88-6 Rigid Pavement Design for Airfields was implemented in the slab design. Delta Air Lines - Cincinnati Terminal Expansion Program Engineering involved the design and construction of telecommunications infrastructure for the $375 million Cincinnati Airport expansion which included a new terminal building; new twentyeight gate concourse, new elevated roadway system, underground tunnels and people mover system and a high speed automated baggage handling system.

Design-Build Hangar 82 Renovation, Robins AFB, Georgia. Structural design for Hangar 82 Dock 1 Weight and Balance Pad and Concrete Floor Repair/Replacement in Dock 1 and 2. Project also included design to increase hangar door opening height to 58 feet and "pavement" was removed and replaced with a state-of-art structural slab-ongrade. An as-built survey was conducted for field verification of existing structural steel prior to engineering modifications. AutoCAD, Micro Station, WRAFB and Uniform Facility Guide Specifications were utilized on this project. Value Engineering Study, Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Facility, Robins AFB, Georgia. Performed a third party 60% Preliminary Conformance Review involving the structural evaluation of a Consolidated Aircraft Maintenance Facility at Robins AFB. Study included a review of the bid-ability and constructability. The objective of this project was to consolidate the functional flight test mission for C-5, C-17 and C-130 aircraft into a single facility.
