Warming up activities

1. Famous people at the party

Level: 2nd grade High School

Unity: Outstanding Persons

 Put the students in small groups of 3-4 people.


 Have them pick four famous people, dead or alive that they’d like to invite to a party
 They have to say the reason why they are inviting them

2. Fact or fiction

Level: 3rd grade, high school

Unity:

 The students write in a piece of paper three personal statements, one true and two false,
about important events that happened in their lives.
 Each student must read the statements aloud and ask the class if their guesses about what
statement it is true.

3. Categories

Level: 3rd grade, high school

Unity: Advice and Support

 Get the students to form a circle in the classroom.


 The teacher thinks of a category and everyone must take a turn thinking of something
related to that category
 If someone takes too long to give an answer (the leader should count to five) then that
person is out, and a new category begins.
 If someone gives an answer that doesn't make sense or is incorrect, he or she is also out of
the game.
 The teacher can give a price to the winner.
4. Asking with answers

Level: 2nd grade, High school

Unity: Globalization and Communication

 The students write down ten answers to questions about themselves.


 After writing down the answers, people must form pairs or small groups and try to find out
what the questions are.

5. Charades

Level: 3rd grade, High school

Unity: Bing Active

 Before the class, the teacher writes out some actions – sports, hobbies, daily/common
activities - and put them in a bag.
 Split the class into two teams.
 Bring one student from each team to the front of the class and one of them choose an
action from the bag.
 Have both students mime the action to their team.
 The first team to shout the correct answer wins a point.
 Repeat this until all students have mimed at least one action.
