Uttarayana or Uttaraayan

This is the time period of six months in Vedic


Astrology in which Sun transits through Makar,
Kumbh, Meen, Maish, Vrish & Mithun rashis
respectively. It starts from 'Makar Sankranti' every
year. During this time interval 'Dinmaan'
continuously increase every next day & 'Raatrimaan'
continuously decrease. Direction of sun rise is seen
to be changing from South-East to North-East. In
these six months the seasons of 'Shishir', 'Vasant' &
'Greeshma' come one after another for every two
months.
Dakshinayan

This is the time of six months in Indian Astrology in which


Sun transits through Kark, Singh, Kanya, Tula, Vrishchik &
Dhanu rashis respectively. It starts from 'Kark Sankrati'
every year. During this time interval 'Dinmaan'
continuously decrease every next day & 'Raatrimaan'
continuously increase. Direction of sun rise is seen to be
changing from North-East to South-East. In these six
months the seasons of 'Varsha', 'Sharad' & 'Hemant' come
one after another for every two months.
