NEWS
January - June 2008 A biannual newsletter of the Ramakrishna Mission Vidyalaya Institutions, Coimbatore
And yet, thanks to the wonderful and powerful motivating ideas of Swami
Vivekananda, the Vidyalaya has almost wholly remained immune to the negative
aspects of a rotting education system. As the following pages will show, the combined
strength and efforts of our teachers have continued providing values, discipline, variety
of sports activities and a spiritually elevating ambience in the campus, besides
affordable quality formal education. The simple-minded student population, mostly
from rural areas, has continued to receive the best of our efforts.
Yours affectionately,
(Swami Atmaramananda)
Secretary

“Let them talk of India's regeneration as they like. Let me tell you as one who has
been working—at least trying to work—all his life, that there is no regeneration for
India until you be spiritual... Do not be in a hurry, do not go out to imitate anybody
else. This is another great lesson we have to remember: imitation is not civilisation...
An ass in a lion's skin never makes a lion. Imitation, cowardly imitation, never makes
for progress....”
Religions of the world have become lifeless mockeries. What the world wants is
character... Bold words and bolder deeds are what we want. Awake, awake, great
ones! The world is burning with misery. Can you sleep? Let us call and call till the
sleeping gods awake, till the god within answers to the call. What more is in life?
What greater work?... I only say, awake, awake!
– Swami Vivekananda
