Mobile Tips, a mobile-based website, was developed to provide First Responders with detailed instructions and resources about

people with disabilities experiencing disaster. The beta version was field-tested with colleagues in the FEMA Region VI Disability Integration Working Group. A revised version was fieldtested with Emergency Managers attending the Texas Homeland Security Conference.

Mobile Tips includes an extensive list of both Disability Acronyms and Emergency Management Acronyms.

Each section of Mobile Tips includes multiple instructions and real life, applicable scenarios. For example, the section about Service Animals includes information such as: When a dog is wearing its harness, it is on duty. In the event you are asked to take the dog while assisting the individual, hold the leash and not the harness.

Mobile Tips includes contact information for state resources and groups. This assists First Responders requiring additional information or assistance for an individual with disabilities.

The Mobile Tips have been accessed by over 3,300 users across all 50 states. Four states are in the process of adapting the Mobile Tips to include local emergency management information. Project REDD is currently collaborating with the UCEDDs in Hawai'i and Delaware in their development of the Mobile Tips.
