Written in the stars- Tinie Tempah The music video opens with an establishing shot of New York City

and Tinie Tempah, this makes the audience know that its an urban setting which means its quite current and suits to the genre of rap. We also see Tinie Tempah looking up to the sky which relates back to the title written in the stars, the fact that he is looking up to the stars makes him look like hes aspiring to be something which connects to the social grades. The next shot after this is a bright white room with the other artist playing a black piano the bright white and contrast makes a reference to sophistication but also on their own the bright white connotes purity and black draws your attention to the skill of the artist.

When Tinie Tempah begins to rap that shot is very important. As the beat drops for him to start raping he is shot at a low angle shot to make him more dominant, he also does a gesture with his hands, which is recognised as quite street. The buildings in the background make Tinie Tempah look very small and vulnerable but at the same time make him look quite wealthy because he is surrounded by a lot of silver, which connotes sleek and modern, this is a big contrast to the next scene which is a close up a small boy writing things down on a tatty pad and rough converses. The converses make the audience know that this shot is suppose to be in the past, when he says they aint heard nothing like this in a while which makes us recognise that this little boy is Tinie Tempah as a child, this makes the audience connect with the child more because the song becomes more personal. The dept of field of the child looking down into the camera, looking very sad and staring right into our eyes and the scruffy hall way in the back makes the scenery look very run down and horrid. He is also sitting on the floor which connotes poverty/poor. The sepia effect also highlights the fact that this scene is in the past. It then shows a quick shot of Tinie Tempah in the same scene as the little kid

80s Digi-Pack
This album is Who made who by AC/DC. The album cover is very basic theme, and the colour scheme is just a range of blues and a single yellow. I think the fact that blue dominates the whole album due to blue being a peaceful and tranquil colour, which is a contrast to AC/DCs music. The yellow AC/DC sign, again iconic, is a very eye catching colour. I like the fact that they have kept their alum very simple by just having a long shot of the guitarist with the logo hovering above. The primary image of the album is there signature pose of AC/DC so you straight away can identify there album.

80s Poster
This is a poster to promote the new single by the Eurhythmics- Sweet dreams are made of this. The primary image is of the two members of the ban, but only the back of the man, which straight away tells us the importance of Annie Lennox, who is the main focus of the poster. Her bizarre orange hair is very out there, which I think connotes the type of music that the Eurythmics make, it is very outrageous, weird an different to the rest and I think the band make that come across well with the photo and composition of the photo. The neon orange is very iconic to the 80s era, and the calm purple in the background allows the orange to power through and become more vibrant. The main image I think is very controversial, it looks very a sexual seen as you cant really tell who's male and who's female. The fact that they are both in black suits also makes them look very sophisticated. I really like the layout of this poster, I think the striking image in the middle is good, but I also like the typography and the way its arranged around the image. Its both attention grabbing but subtle, as the font is very basic but bold.

80s Music Video

This video is oo Shyby Kajagoogoo I think you can tell that there are big T . changes in this 80s genre video to more recent ones. The majority of music videos in the 90s and 00s are a lot more edited and more of story board is going on. In this video the band are just performing to what looks like a welcome home party for soldiers' from the war in 1939 but throughout the video the party seems to change as the waitress that seems to be the star attraction of the video. The only real story line in this video is the eye contact between the lead singer and the mystery waitress. The shots used a lot are close ups of both their faces and jump cuts between both, this highlights the fact that hes singing to the waitress and that the song is about her. She also looks very down and maybe Too Shy The clothing being warn by the band is very 80s and very pop. Unlike most of the music videos out at the time, it doesnt have many women dancing around provocatively but the video just seems to quite energetic but at the same time quite patriotic to England.

The 90s The musical era of the 1990s was one filled with a variety of pop, rap, and alternative music artists as well as an embarrassment of one-hit wonders. It was a time when musical taste was as varied as the events that were happening at the time. Popular music in the 1990s saw the continuation of teen pop and dance-pop trends which had emerged in the 1970s and 1980s. Other artists were just starting out during this decade and make a huge impact on the musical scene. Groups like Technotronic entered the Billboard charts with big hits like Pump Up the Jam and Get Up. Similarly to the 1980s, rock music was also very popular in the 1990s, yet, unlike the New Wave and glam metal-dominated scene of the time, grunge, Britpop, industrial rock and other alternative rock music emerged and took over as the most popular of the decade, as well as pop punk, ska punk and nu-metal, amongst others, which attained a high level of success at different points throughout the years. With groups like Technotronic coming in with their upbeat dance music, music videos and album covers became more colourful and eye catching. They steered away from the usual plain black and white primary image. Their images would involve interesting shapes, colours and dance images which suit to the conventions of the genres. Prior to the innovation of computer-based editing software in the 90s, there is a technique called 'linear video editing' which was the main editing method back then which allowed videos to be more complex and ambitious. Also in the 90s lead to the first release of Photoshop 1.0 which includes: colour correction, image optimization for output, curves, levels, and the Clone tool. This was a big revelation for album covers in the 90s. It was the time of Nirvana Nevermind and Green Day Dookie which to this day are still one of the most iconic album covers. They are both edited heavily, Nirvana more photoshopped than Green day due to Green day being more drawn.

90s Digi-Pack
I have chosen to talk about Madonna's album I'm Breathless. The colours this album contain very warm colours, and has a consistent theme throughout the album. The primary and secondary images on the album are very provocative which is the image that Madonna is known for. A contrast from other albums is that you can tell that a lot of editing didnt go into the images throughout the album. The layout of this album I think has been done very well, she has used rectangular shapes a lot in the front and back. Its sectioned off into certain bits to make it both readable and look neater. The whole mood of the album looks very similar to the film noir photography as the mystery man staring at Madonna and Madonna herself is dressed very 40s. From the colour scheme, choice of clothing and provocative pose you can tell the album was targeted at an older audience. Coming back to the film noir style, at the bottom of the front page it states From and inspired by the film Dick Tracy I think this is good promotion for the album as people that have enjoyed the film Dick Tracy will then want to go listen to the album made from it. I think the fashion is the biggest statement on this album. The black and yellow text with Madonna in it I think is very intriguing, it straight away stands out especially on the sophisticated black background. Yellow is a very attention grabbing colour which suits Madonna's personality well, it also is quite an overpowering colour so it immediately grabs your attention and draws you to the album.

90s Poster
This poster is for Madonnas album Im Breathless. I think this poster is very attention grabbing as your attention is draw to her breasts and intense eye contact. The lighting of the poster is directed at her face and so thats where your attention Is drawn too. The fact that she is using her body to grab attention like women power but could also strike up controversy for feminists. The shot of Madonna in the face almost looks like a profile picture but she turns her body into the poster. There is also product placement in a way because back in the 90s Jean Paul Gautier would design the majority of her clothes, and you can tell by the specific design that it is his. The front used on the poster is very fun and very young. The dominant colour of the page is silver, silver connotes glamorous and distinguished which is the image that Madonna is trying to show. The front is also very sharp and angler which is very similar to Madonnas figure, she's very skinny and is leaning into the photo. Her shoulders and bones are very pointy so they begin to look similar to the font.

The 00s
On the whole, the 2000s saw contemporary R&B, hip hop and urban music building incrementally. Hip hop and R&B continue to be popular, at times blending with pop music, especially towards the end of the decade. Some mini genres did emerge in the decade, such as Emo rock and pop, a more "melodramatic" fusion between Gothic rock and pop punk music, as well as electronic subgenres such as dubstep, grime and bass line. 2000 was the breakthrough time of Eminem which set a massive market for Rap and Grime. His album The Marshall Mathers LP was massive throughout 2000.
