Signalling is the mechanism that conveys information to locomotive drivers about whether to stop, proceed with caution, or continue normally through the use of systems and devices. Signalling consists of ensuring trains are operated efficiently and tracks are used to maximum capacity while maintaining safety for passengers, staff, and equipment. There are different types of signals located at various points on the track that provide instructions to drivers.

Signalling is Mechanism by which the information is conveyed to the Loco driver to Stop, Go with Caution or Proceed. Signalling consists of the systems, devices and means by which trains are operated efficiently and tracks are used to maximum extent, maintaining the safety of the passengers, the staff and the rolling stock.
