JIT Introduction.
Toyota Motor Company is credited with developing and operating the approach. During the early 1970s, the application of this philosophy strengthened their competitiveness in the automobile industry.
produce and deliver finished goods just in time to be sold, sub-assemblies just in time to be assembled into finished goods, and purchased materials just in time to be transformed into fabricated parts
JIT emphasizes that all components of the processes employed to produce a service should be visible to those participating in the process. This allows process participants an opportunity to learn, inspect and improve those processes.
As part of JIT implementation, organizations must instil the habit of expecting continuous small improvements in the process.
Firms should have the ability to change processes rapidly to meet customer demands without wasting resources. Example-Decreasing the cost of maintaining patient accounts was the purpose of applying JIT techniques in a hospital.
Because customers are directly involved in the service delivery process, service employees play a crucial role in affecting the customers perception of the quality and value of the service.
