Because of how our world has adapted now we can say that almost every show shown on TV is postmodern

as they include curtail elements of it such as: Intersexuality Parody Pastiche Homage Hyperreality

The Darkness are a British hard rock band from Suffolk, formed in 2000. Consisting of Justin Hawkins (lead vocals, guitar), his brother Dan Hawkins (guitar, backing vocals), Frankie Poullain (bass, backing vocals) and Ed Graham (drums). There genres include: Hard rock, glam metal, glam rock, heavy metal Record labels: Must Destroy, Atlantic, Warner,EastWest, PIAS Win d-up Records

One of the main reasons in which we love postmodern bands and music is based on their appeal to wow us, pulling various surprises in which we wouldnt expect from them. The type of audiences who loves these kinds of bands are niche in the world as they may be considered to be weird or different from the rest of us, thus standing out.

Like The Darkness band, you will either love them or hate them as they are a band made up from different signs, statements and images. They appeal to an older audiences as well as a younger crowd as they still carry out the old-style heavy guitar rock band vibe, they do no appear to be a serious band but a more fun, crazy one unlike the mainstream ones of Coldplay or Radiohead. They easily relate to artist such as Kiss, Van Halen and Areosmith who never had any agenda. The pleasure an audience may get out of listening to and watching the darkness is a sense of nostalgia of the past, when they were young, listening to old rock music put with the crazy twist of them making weird music videos. The target audience in fact varies from old teenagers ages 18 to adults who want to relive their teenage rebellion years.

Everything about The Darkness is borrowed from other texts and music styles as they deliberately make this form of nostalgia in the way they present themselves. Their genre is controversial in which we are undecided if they mock glam rock music and heavy metal bands, despite the claims from them. This is because they do not take themselves seriously as we see them fighting a giant rubber squid in the music video of I believe in a thing called love. Reports of live shows seem to emphasise The Darkness, who perform in front of an entire crowd will be more important than what people may think of the music they make.

Theorist Jean Baudillard, suggest that the culture that is dominated by original texts but copies of them, in today's world, these copies are so good that the originals become obsolete, Thus making The Darkness who appear to be copies, fulfil the status of simulacrum.

If you take a look at these albums you will see that it is clear that they echo or somehow reference each other. As spaceships and the use of dark purples and blues signify The Darkness or night. Their name appears to look entertaining rather than serious compared to Kiss albums. It isnt just the album art work which is postmodern but also the costume in which the lead singer, Justin wears, the famous all in one, catsuit. They also reference many other famous bands and artist in their song showing intextuality.
