Responses, research and planning

What is a Digipak? Digipaks are typically made of card which are split into 6 boxes and are usually opened up in a book like style. When you open up the Digipak, you will find a CD packaged inside being held by a plastic tray that secures it. Also, in a Digipak, you will often find a paper uv coating (longevity and durability) booklet containing information about the band, songs or lyrics. You will also see a series of pictures of the band/group/artist.

1st Feedback - Online survey

This was the first survey I created and I sent it to friends on Facebook, family members and teachers. We received some great feedback which helped me to better my ideas and I kept in mind the critic when I creating more album designs.

Changes
All seven people who completed the survey rated this album cover 7 or 8 out of 10.

Ive decided that the logos will look better on the back of the CD cover as it is distracting.

The lettering needs to be centered. Also the colour doesnt pop out.

Everyone said that they thought the two fonts worked well together but that they needed to be evenly spaced. We decided we would use the Bebas Neue font which is the font the band use on their website and logo. Its a very simple but strong font.

Parental advisory logo is no longer needed as there is no swearing or adult content. I have changed this on the new draft.

New Adjustments
Bebas Neue font used

This text has been moved over to the right slightly.

The problem with this design is that a lot of people who took the survey didnt understand the relevance of the diamond playing cards which is a reference to what the band mentioned which was that Mitsubishis means 3 diamonds in Japanese hence the Japanese car company where the logo has 3 diamonds.

I used a second image to overlap on to the image of playing cards. Its a easy process to learn on Adobe Photoshop CS5. The effect was very intriguing because we used UV paint on the band member faces so the neon colours that appear are

CD Dimensions

These measurements are the dimensions that I will be refering to when creating the Digipak on Adobe Photoshop CS5.

2nd Survey
Three new album cover designs had been completed so I created a second survey especially for everyone in the class to complete. We got some positive feedback.

3 new album cover designs:

This front cover was designed by Tarryn our classmates did my survey before she created this so we havent received any responses about this design.

Plans for the back of the CD cover

All font will be in Bebas Neue as it it bold yet simple

and the band have been using this font on their logo and own website.

Digipak Design

Final CD disc design

This is Mitsubishis band logo. Sci and I recreated on Photoshop which didnt take long. Black and white contrast so well. It is bold and really makes a statement

I have seen CDs where the image goes over the clear circle (inside the red dotted space). The logo, this size in the centre of the disc wouldnt work any other way.
