What is trust?
Oxford Dictionary (noun) firm belief in the
reliability, truth, or ability of someone or something.

The act of placing yourself in the vulnerable
position of relying on others to treat you in a
fair, open, and honest way.

relationships?

The importance of trust
Productive relationships are based on trust often unrecognized and
taken for granted
Its a resource that increases with use
Enables coordination without coercion
Enables commitments to be undertaken in situations of high risk
Good communication in the workplace depends on trust
Encourages best practice sharing and cooperation

There are four components of trust:
competence, clear communication,
commitment, and consideration

Competence: You are able to do what
you promised

Commitment: You actually do what you
say you will do

Clear Communication: You say what you
mean and you mean what you say

Consideration: You take others
interest into account

are able to capably perform their
jobs and do whatever they propose
to do.

Talk about the why and how of decisions you make and actions you
take.
Ask for help when needed
Acknowledge what you don t know
Be willing to learn
