DEFINITION

Water Cooler is a device for cooling and dispensing drinking water .

INTRODUCTION OF WATER COOLER

A water cooler is an appliance which chills and dispenses water. Water coolers take a
number of forms, and some of them offer extra features like warm water or ice cubes.
Water coolers can be found in offices, schools, and a variety of other locations where
people might want to be able to easily access fresh, cold drinking water, often with a cup
dispenser nearby for people who do not have cups or other containers for water.

There are two basic styles of water cooler. In the first, a bottled water cooler, a large
bottle of water is installed in the water cooler, neck-down. When a valve is turned, water
pours out of the bottle and through a spout on the front of the water cooler. Some bottled
water coolers are standalone units without any cooling capabilities, while others are
connected to an electrical system which powers a cooling reservoir in the water cooler,
ensuring that cold water is always available.

A bottleless water cooler is hooked up to a central water system, and commonly
connected to an electrical source for heating and cooling water. Bottleless water coolers
are usually preferred in situations where large numbers of people need water, as
changing bottles can become cumbersome and irritating. Bottleless coolers are also
more likely to have extra features like ice cubes and hot water, since they are viewed as
permanent fixtures, and thus wiring them into the electrical system is worth it.

Filtered water coolers connect directly to a city water line to provide
drinking water without the hassle of jugs. Most filtered water coolers resemble
standard water coolers with a red and blue spout for serving heated and
cooled water respectively.

The cost of water coolers varies, depending on the type and any added features.
Bottled water coolers are sometimes provided free of charge by companies which
deliver bottled war as a bonus for signing up for a delivery account. Many people
view a water cooler as a reasonable investment in a group environment, since it
ensures that everyone has access to fresh water, and some people view a water
cooler as a pleasant office perk. Water coolers may also be used to encourage
people to stay hydrated and to avoid sodas and coffee.

In office environments, water coolers often turn into community gathering spots.
People may use the water cooler as an excuse to take a break, and then loiter
around the water cooler chatting with other people in the office. In large offices with
multiple departments, people often get information through water cooler gossip,
since the office is too big for employees to keep track of each other. The phrase
around the water cooler is often used as a slang term to describe gossiping
sessions, whether or not a water cooler is present.

Water Cooler/Boiler
Water Cooler/Boiler helps in energy efficiency to get your water boiling hot and cold
instantly. The water cooler/boiler can be connected to your main water supply fitted
with filtration system. They are fitted nicely in stainless steel body with stylish
looking, slim-line design with electronic control and user diagnostics.

Bottle

To install the bottle, the bottle is tipped upside down and set onto the dispenser, a
probe punctures the cap of the bottle and allows the water to flow into the machine's
internal reservoir. These gravity-powered systems have a device to dispense water
in a controlled manner.

These machines come in different sizes and vary from table units, intended for
occasional use to floor-mounted units intended for heavier use. Bottled Water
normally is delivered to the household or business on a regular basis, where empty
bottles are exchanged for full ones. The bottle size varies with the size of the unit
with the larger versions in the US using 5-US-gallon (19 L) bottles. This is also the
most common size elsewhere, labelled as 18.9 litres in countries that use the metric
system. These units usually do not have a place to dump excess water, only offering
a small basin to catch minor spills. On the front, a lever or push button dispenses the
water into a cup held beneath the spigot.

When the water container is empty, it is lifted off the top of the dispenser, and
automatically seals to prevent any excess water still in the bottle from leaking.

Plumbed with purification
Plumbed water coolers use tap water and therefore do not need bottles. Usually
some method of purification is used.

Filtration
Filtration methods include reverse osmosis, ion exchange and activated carbon.

Cooling and heating methods.

Usually units offer a refrigeration function to chill the water. Some versions also
have a second dispenser that delivers room temperature water or even heated
water that can be used for tea, hot chocolate or other uses. The water in the
alternate hot tap is generally heated with a heating element and stored in a hot tank
(much like the traditional hot water heaters used in residential homes). Additionally,
the hot tap is usually equipped with a push-in safety valve to prevent burns from an
accidental or inadvertent pressing of the lever.

Water cooler effect

A water cooler effect is a phenomenon, occurring when employees at a workplace
gather around the office water cooler and chat. It is a synonym for gathering and
connecting people in a certain environment (e.g. the office). When a television
program, like a soap-opera or series, is talked about among many people (mostly
related to guessing what will happen in the next episode) it can be said that the
program has a water cooler effect.
