Acrylic On

Canvas

20”x 30”
Inspired by the
Russian artist
Kandinsky, this
canvas contains
symbols and ideas I
have explored
through my work.
This canvas links up
with two collages: the
women cut out from
Perspex and a collage
painted on a canvas
sheet. The symbols
are carried through
all the three pieces of
Self Portrait:
Graphite Pencil
24”X 16”
A slightly abstract self
portrait done in graphite
pencil. In this self
portrait the nose, and
eyes are emphasized.
Biologically proven one
side of the body is larger
than the other side, in
this self portrait I have
also emphasized one
side of the body being
larger than the other
side. The face is not
symmetrical, showing
the obvious flaws in the
face.
Paper-Cup
Dress; Hosiery
A dress made from
scraps of cloth and
paper cups. The paper
cups are cut in half and
sewn onto the material.
Each cup has a different
part of the body/face
painted on it. Black and
white are used to create
Dress:
Cotton and Hosiery

A simple dress made from lycra

hosiery, with a cotton frill border.
Though the dress seems very simple,
the neck is a turtle neck, and it is
very long. So it creates a heaviness
around the neck, and owing to the
material – it falls well. The colour are
also very simple, but create a subtle
effect on the viewer.
Dress
Cotton and Hosiery

A dress made from

hosiery and
cotton. Inspired
from the 60’s with
a high-waisted
skirt, this dress
can have multiple
purposes. The
skirt can come off,
or can be put on
to add more
volume to the
dress. The skirt
has frills on it, to
make the dress
look more
innocent. And the

‘Marilyn Me,
Me Marilyn’
28”x 20”
An obvious
inspiration from Pop-
art icon Andy
Warhol, this is a self
portrait done in Pop
art colours and
style, the only
difference being that
it is done in acrylic.
The idea behind this
is to embody what
Warhol always
mocked: glamour.

Sheet
32”x 25”

This collage was first

made by taking
pictures in Delhi.
This is a portion of
the collage, painted
onto the canvas
sheet. The face of
the human, was
initially a mannequin
but that was
changed to mock
beauty and warp the
face into something
surrealistic.
Photoshop
with Indian
Miniature
Paintings
24”x 17”
Indian miniature paintings
are known all over the
world. This is an old
miniature painting, that I
used, to change on
Photoshop slightly, in a
whimsical way. The colour
pink creates a direct
contrast to the pale blue
hues used in the original
work. This was an
inspiration from the
Chinese artist ‘Sharuku’
whose iconic face was
whimsically changed by
Photoshop
20” X 23”

This series of digital

Prints was done on
Photoshop, and
Inspired by the surrealist artist Maggie Taylor.
The idea behind this is of human desire, and how
humans always want what they cannot have.
Lino Print
19”x14”
A
Lino print done of an
old women with
marigolds and
paisley's. The paisleys
and marigolds are very
Indian and a part of
Indian culture. The
paisley’s symbolizes
the youth in India and
the marigolds – death.
The old women done in
black and white create
a stark contrast to the
red marigolds. The
marigolds are done by
adding orange kite
paper and printing
over it.

Perspex
34”x 27”

These are various

pictures taken on the
streets of Delhi of
people and objects.
Stuck on Perspex,
cut out to look like a
female torso. In India
all the goddesses are
represented with
voluptuous figures,
this is what the
Perspex is cut out to
look like.

Canvas
40”x 30”
Inspired by the
impressionist artist
Edgar Degas, this
canvas is of a ballerina
preparing to go on
stage. This canvas is
very similar to the
works done by Degas,
however the colours
are different from his
subtle neutral tones.
Being fascinated with
ballerina’s and the way
their body moves, lead
me to make this
canvas.
Screen Print

Shepard Faiery and Andy Warhol inspired,

this collection of three T-shirts are screen
printed. The designs are entirely my own and
the three colours chosen are all to contrast
and to be bold. The T shirts are also made by
me, using hosiery.
