What is a Discrete Trail ?

Discrete trails are damaged/defective trails that exists on an NE/EMS level rather than on an NMS
level in Huawei.

How does a trail become Discrete ?

Whenever an existing trail (ECI + Huawei) is edited in ECI NMS but its Huawei counterpart
remains in Huawei NMS without proper endpoints. This leftover Huawei trail is in Discrete State.
Whenever a Huawei NE has cross connects before swap with ECI. The existing trail in Huawei NE
becomes Discrete.
Whenever a topology is created between Huawei UME drop cards and trails are manually edited
through the same.
Whenever an ECI NE with an inconsistent trail is swapped with Huawei NE
Whenever an exiting ECI NE with Y trail is swapped with Huawei NE.

Impact of Discrete trails on Services

Discrete trails cannot be edited and hence they cannot be rerouted during outages.
Discrete trails do not shift to protection whenever there is an issue in the main path.
