Introduction About SAI CONSULTANTS

SAI CONSULANTS was founded in 1990 by Mr. Hiren G. Desai, a Civil Engineer M.E. (structure)
by qualification.
He is consulting structure engineer and Government approved Valuer.
Ongoing projects of SAI CONSULTANTS:
Omorose
Corona heights
Fortune mall
Palash paladiya
Avadh Regalia
Copper stone

Objectives
To gain practical knowledge and understanding the practices done on site by a structural consultancy
firm.
To know the methods used by structural consultancy for estimation of respective projects.
To learn about detailed study of Architectural drawings and gain of analytical skills as a structural
engineer.
To learn modeling, analysis and design of G + 3(with basement) low rise Building using STURDS.

Training Outline
Chapter 1: Estimation
Chapter 2: Site work

Chapter 2: Site Work

Excavation: Excavation was carried out both manually as well as
mechanically.
Depth of excavation was 54 from Ground Level.

R.C.C. Raft Footing: The reinforced concrete raft is designed to transmit the whole
load of the building from the raft to the ground.
Raft foundations may be used for buildings on compressible
ground such as very soft clay, alluvial deposits and compressible
fill material.
Raft foundations are used to spread the load from a structure
over a large area.
Normally raft foundation is used when large load is to be
distributed.
Thickness of pad 30 and 36.
Apart from raft foundation, individual footings were used.

Chapter 3:Modelling, Analysis and Design of a Low Rise Building using Struds

STRUDS is an ideal software solution for the usage of structural engineers for the analysis of
design.
It is very easy and useful software for structure engineer.
Analysis can be done by importing beam grit file from the autocad.
Stiffness matrix and finite element method are use for analysis in STRUDS.
Limit state method is use for design of RC member.

Conclusion
In my two month training, I gain practical knowledge which is use in civil engineering field.
I also learnt about construction techniques, labor management, time and cost management and
techniques best suitable for site activities.
Also I learnt the way to work in an organization, the importance of maximum commitment and the
most importance of team spirit.
And I also learnt analysis and design of structure using STRUDS.
