A class newsletter is a great way to encourage students to present
FILE TYPES what was done in class to their parents and inform them of Microsoft upcoming events or assignments. Office Students will be placed in groups to created a newsletter on Microsoft Word and incorporate a variety of different files types. Clip Art Each newsletter will have four articles: Scanner Explain/Discuss what is currently being covered in class. This can include a scanned image of a student’s assignment or pictures of Internet students working in class Jpeg. Share what tools and resources available to the students at school, in the community or through the internet that relate to the current topic Pdf. How the students can apply what they are learning in the future and outside of school. Doc. Fun class/school announcements and preview what will be covered next in class Create original animations or videos documenting school, community, or local events. (1,2,6) Smile, you’re on SchoolTube! •Students will take on the role of newscaster and create a 5-10 minute news production •Headlines will be ideas that relate to the current topic being covered in class. Information can be gathered through newspaper, magazines, or on-line •Students may also pick one topic of their choosing. It can be on student/classroom achievements, school sports, upcoming events at the school or in the community, weather or anything else they feel is important to share •The news show will be uploaded onto SchoolTube for teachers to show in classrooms and students to show their parents or friends at home.
Students will get a chance to work with
video cameras, iMovie, and other programs that are required to make, edit, and show a movie. Gather data, examine patterns, and apply information for decision making using digital tools and resources. (1,4)
Throughout the year there will be different
Using on-line survey tools or Microsoft types of surveys conducted. Examples Excell students can use information include: gathered to review, analyze and come up with statistical data. -Correlation Projects: Is there a correlation between students who walk to school and the distance they live from the school. -Research: What is the most popular sport to play verses watch. Survey 10 girls and boys in each grade. (6-8th ) -Patterns: Create four new class that should be offered at the school and research which classes students would most likely sign up for. Look for any patterns that may be associated with the class: gender, age, family background, hobbies, favorite subjects, tools needed for the class Participate in a cooperative learning project in an online learning community. (2) Students will create Individual Blogs through B Blogger.com where they will write weekly entries on L books they are reading outside of class. Each entry O will include: Summery of what they read that week G New vocabulary words they came across G Figurative language E Once a book is completed they will pick an audience R that would enjoy the book and explain why that particular audience should read it Each week the students will be required to comments on three of their classmates blogs
