Geographical Leverage

Kaushambi, which was the capital of the Vats kingdom and a thriving centre of
Buddhism.

Bridge is Pratisthan Pur, capital of the Chandra dynasty.
About 58 kilometres northwest is the medieval site of Kara with its impressive
wreckage of Jaichand of Kannauj's fort.
Shringaverpur, another ancient site discovered relatively recently, has become a
major attraction for tourists and antiquarians alike.

Possibilities

Allahabad has very close proximity to the heritage arc(as proposed by Govt. of
UP). It has a < 60km aberration from the arc.
Due to this proximity, Allahabad stands to gain in terms of improving
infrastructure, including roads, pathways and condition of monuments, among
other things, to attract tourists in a big way.

Allahabad falls in the Ganga route comprising of major cities such as Rishikesh,
Varanasi, Patna- all of which are in close proximity to Allahabad and are well
connected by roadways, railways and airways.
If waterways is given due attention, its immense untapped potential can be
leveraged to boost tourism along the Ganga route and make Allahabad a tourism
hub.

Improving the state of universities in Allahabad can go a long way in boosting

tourism in the city. The lost glory of Allahabad University which was once known
as Oxford of the East must be revived.
Allahabad has been a seat of learning since time immemorial. It has been the
choicest preparation centre for potential civil servants. Allahabad should be
developed along the lines of Kota(Rajasthan) to leverage this advantage.
