Concept

Introduction
Energy security is very important for growth and
stability of economy.
India is one of the largest consumer of oil and
produces less than 1% of global production.
Indias requirements of Oil and Gas are fulfilled by
imports from other countries.
Hence, an efficient supply chain is important for
meeting India s oil requirements.

Gaps Identified from RP1

Through our study we found out that the market leaders source their
machinery and other tools from outside India. If Indian companies were to
perfect their supply chain, how would that effect the market structure in
the business.
There is a lot of difference in the operational efficiency that is seen in
companies in India and abroad. Research needs to be done to look into
causes of this shortfall and the necessary actions to bridge this gap.
There is also research required to look in to the various threats, both
natural and man made that will effect the supply chain with context to India

Objective
The primary objective of this paper is to
understand the faced threats by the oil and gas
supply chain in India and understand how it
could impact Indias energy security.
Once the threats have been identified and
prioritized, this paper would focus on providing
mitigation strategies for those threats based on
inputs from industry experts.

Hypothesis
Geo Political Threats
Infrastructure Insufficiency
Natural Disasters
Security of Supply Chain

Methodology
The threats were recognized and three factors were identified which affect them
Based on above information questionnaire were created
Survey was conducted via emails and social ( Facebook and LinkedIn)
About 45 responses were collected from Industry experts
Each one having experience of about 15-20 years
Following tests were conducted:
Factor Analysis
Reliability Test
Normality Test

Normality test
Normality test was performed on responses received for each question.
P<0.05 foe every question.
Ratio of skewness/std error and kurtosis/std error were in range f -1.96 to 1.96
Hence responses are not significantly different from normally distributed set of
data.

Threat Mitigation Techniques

Structural adjustments in energy sector
Energy Efficiency
Energy Assurance

Limitations
The threat of infrastructure insufficiency was not addressed.
The mitigation techniques suggested dont address the
threats individually.
The mitigation techniques were derived from secondary
sources of data.
