Overview
The basic idea is to make sure that
a reader be able to grasp your
major findings either by reading
the text or by looking at the
figures and tables.

ITC599/ITS690

Introduction - results
The results of experiments provides evidence of
your project
Usually experiments either emphasize proofof-concept
demonstrating the viability of a
method/technique or efficiency
demonstrating that a method/technique
provides better performance than those that
exist.
Marina, Rogayah, Roziana, Shuzlina, Sofianita; FTMSK, UiTM, 2007

ITC599/ITS690

Introduction
Sample of type of expected output from project or
research
Prototype of application (i.e hci, flow of the application)
Application with experiment (i.e testing on several mode
of experiment)
Analysis of observation (survey/questionnaires)
Assessment of theory
Model
Framework

ITC599/ITS690

Result
Data
all observations data
data that you get from your experiment
Analyze your data
Present them in the form of figures (graphs), tables, and/or
descriptions of observations/experiments
Results must have continuation, describe the relationship of
each section of data.result to the overall study.
The table or figure should then be presented, complete with
title.

Marina, Rogayah, Roziana, Shuzlina, Sofianita; FTMSK, UiTM, 2007

ITC599/ITS690

Result
Place raw data at the back of the report as
an appendix, if needed. The appendix is
also appropriate for any sample
calculations that are needed, such as handworked statistical analyses or raw
calculations that show how you arrived at
reported values..
Do not draw conclusions in the results
section. Reserve data interpretation for the
discussion.
Marina, Rogayah, Roziana, Shuzlina, Sofianita; FTMSK, UiTM, 2007

ITC599/ITS690

Result
Comparing results from previous
experiment
The result shown

Tips and Guidelines
Dont interpret, or draw conclusions from, your data in this
section
Describe results in the past tense
Present your results in some logical order (chronological order
is often not the best way)

Common mistakes

Raw data
Redundancy
Discussion and interpretation of data
No figures or tables
