School District.

to Knickrehm Elementary School.

Interview of Human
Resource Director Data
On Average, about 70 new teachers and 1-3 principals

are hired each year. This is considered normal for a

district of Grand Islands size.
Grand Island tends to have a higher turnover rate of

teachers that are young and single because they do

not have as many ties to the Grand Island community.
Grand Island feels their principals are more successful

when they are grown within the district. Although they

dont have immediate principal experience, they tend
to handle Grand Island cliental better.
Experienced principals dont typically apply for small

school positions. (Under 300 students)

Interview of Human
Resource Director Data
The district expectation is to unify and pull

together as a team to make everyone successful

when principal or teacher turnover is occurring.
Learning facilitators should be used to help keep

consistent instruction and support for teachers.

(Not a turnover position)
No administrator or teacher is perfect. The

attitudes of individuals and how they respond to

lifes situations is the responsibility of each party.
Hire the best person at the time for the job.

Research
Track student academic performances on state

tests (English language acquisition and math).

between a poverty school and nonpoverty school

that witness high principal and teacher turnover.
Student academic performance
Teacher turnover
Relationships among administrators, teachers,
students, and families
Lack of support for teachers

Future Consideration of
Research
Research the effects that result from a

novice principal vs. a seasoned

principal. (cliental, both new
administrators to a school, same
economic status)
There are simply too many factors to

discover a direct correlation between

high principal turnover and/or
inexperienced principals and the
possible effects that result.
