WHAT IS A RADIOLOGY
EXAM?
Cancer.gov, said ..uses radiation or other imaging procedures.
Finds signs of cancer or other abnormalities
Can find a diagnosis
Such as, if a bone is broken
The cause of vomiting
If there is a torn ligament/tendon in the knee

HOW DO RADIOLOGY
EXAMS WORK?
Some radiology exams use electromagnetic radiation
For example, x-rays use this type of radiation
Some radiology exams do not use radiation
For example, MRIs use a strong magnet and radio waves

COMPUTED TOMOGRAPHY
(CT) SCAN
Use electromagnetic radiation to create images
Takes usually less than 5-10 minutes
Lie on your back while going through a tunnel like shape
Can show a variety of health concerns.
Such as, Kidney stones.

MAMMOGRAPHY
(MAMMOGRAM)
Used to detect breast cancer
Breastcancer.org, 1 in 8 U.S. women will develop breast cancer
It extremely important for women receive mammograms

ULTRASOUND
Ultrasounds do not use radiation
Can be used for a variety of different reasons
Such as, the growth of your fetus or finding blood clots

CONCLUSION
Radiology exams are important for you to know about
You could have a radiology exam in the future
