Definition of Sociology
- The word sociology comes from the Greek
word Socius, meaning member, friend, or
ally, thus referring to the people in general.
It also comes from suffix Logy and Greek
word logus which means study of.
- It is therefore a social science involving the
study of social lives of people, groups, and
societies.
- Sometimes it is also defined as the study of
social
interactions

Sociology is the study of society and


human social interactions and all social
system that such interactions creates.
It is generally concerns itself with the
social rules and processes that bind
people not only as individuals but as
members of associations, groups, and
institutions
and
includes
the
examination of the organization and
development of human social life.
