INTRODUCTION

Here is a circuit that lets you operate your home

appliances like lights and water pump from your
office or any other remote place.

PIN CONFIGURATION

Pins 1-8 are Port 1

Pin 9 is RST.

Pins 10-17 are Port 3

Pins 18 &19 Crystal (XTAL)

Pin 20 GND

Pins 21-28 are Port 2

Pins 32- 39 are port 0

DTMF

If we press 1 , then two frequencies of

corresponding row and column adds .
i.e., 697hz + 1209hz = 1906hz

3.5 MM EARPHONE JACK

Ground

Signal

One wire comes from the ground

terminal of the jack that is
connected to common ground of the
complete circuit .The other wire can
be attached to any one of two signal
terminals.

DTMF DECODER
o The HT9170B/D tone
decoders consist of
three band pass filters
and two digital decode
circuits to convert a
tone (DTMF) signal into
digital code output.
o When input signals are
recognized to be
effective, Direct Voltage
becomes high, and the
correct tone code
(DTMF) digit is
transferred.

RELAY DRIVER ULN 2003

o ULN stands for Universal
Logic Network

o ULN is mainly suited for

interfacing between lowlevel circuits and multiple
peripheral power loads

RELAY
A

relay is an electrical switch that opens

and closes under the control of another
electrical circuit.
In

the original form, the switch is

operated by an electromagnet to open or
close one or many sets of contacts.

CONCLUSION
The project GSM BASED HOME AUTOMATION has

been successfully designed and tested. Integrating features

of all the hardware components used have developed.

Presence of every module has been reasoned out and placed

carefully thus contributing to the best working of the unit.

16

FUTURE ASPECTS

This product is aimed toward average consumers

who wish to control household appliances
remotely from their cell phones provided that the
appliances are electrically controllable
Right now we have designed the project for control
of two devices but it can be designed for more
number of devices .It can be further expanded
with a voice interactive system facility. A feedback
system can also be included which provides the
state of a device(whether it is on/off) to the remote
user.
