SF6 (sulphur-hexafluoride) gas possesses a
unique combination of properties, making it an
excellent gas for use in circuit breakers. The
properties are:

Excellent interrupting capability
Chemically stable even at high temperature
Non-toxic
Non-flammable

greater than that of air and at 3 bar
