INTRODUCTION
Wind energy is the most promising renewable
energy.
Natural changes of the wind mechanical
power lead to a variable turbine speed and a
variable output voltage.
To achieve a variable speed constant
frequency system, an induction generator is
considered to be attractive.
To expand the speed range and reduce the
slip power losses is to doubly excite the stator
and rotor windings.
Double fed induction generator (DFIG)
technology allows extracting maximum
4
energy from the wind

Include an array of power semiconductors
and capacitor voltage sources.
A m-level inverter generates an output
voltage with m- values (levels).
Increasing the number of levels in the
inverter will reduced harmonic distortion.
Three different topologies have been
proposed for multilevel inverters

II. Flying Capacitor
III. Cascaded H-Bridge

The clamping diode Dc is used to
connect the neutral point N to the
midpoint of the transistor.
The dc-bus voltage is split into three
levels by two series-connected bulk
capacitors, C1 and C2.

Generate output voltages with
extremely low distortion and lower
dv/dt.
Draw input current with very low
distortion.
Generate smaller common-mode
(CM) voltage, thus reducing the
stress in the motor bearings.
Operate with a lower switching
frequency.

CONCLUSION
The DFIG technology allows extracting maximum
energy from the wind for low wind speeds by
optimizing the turbine speed.
The DFIG technology has the ability for power
electronic converters to generate or absorb
reactive power
It is possible to control the reactive power, and
compensate for the utility harmonics.
The higher order and most unwanted harmonics
generated are reduced and the generated reactive
power is also controlled.
It can be applied in all type of Industrial control
system to obtain better performance than the
21
conventional systems.
