WARREN BUFFET
Warren Edward Buffett(born August
30, 1930)is an American business
magnate, investor and philanthropist.
He is the most successful investor in
the world. Buffett is the chairman,CEO
and largestshareholderofBerkshire
Hathaway,and is consistently ranked
among theworld's wealthiest people. In
2012Timenamed Buffett one of the
world's most influential people.

Buffett worked from 1951 to 1954 at Buffett-Falk & Co. as an investment

salesman; from 1954 to 1956 at Graham-Newman Corp. as a securities analyst;
from 1956 to 1969 at Buffett Partnership, Ltd.; as a general partner beginning in
1970; and asChairmanand CEO ofBerkshire Hathaway Inc.
Before working forBenjamin Graham,Warrenhad been an investment salesman
a job that he liked doing except when the stocks he suggested went down and lost
money for his clients. By 1959, Warren had opened a total of
sevenpartnershipsand had a 9.5% stake in more than a million dollars of
partnership assets. By 1962 Warren had become a millionaire and merged all of
his partnerships into a single entity before eventually dissolving the partnership
in1970. In 1962 Warren saw an opportunity in a New England textile company
called Berkshire Hathaway and began tobuy stock. A dispute over a how much the
textile company would buyback Warrens shares in 1964 hit a nerve with the
investor, and Warren began to aggressively buy shares. Ironically, the purchase of
Berkshire Hathaway is one of Warrensmajor regrets. Warren used Berkshire
Hathaway as aholding companyto buy National Indemnity Company (the first of
many insurance companies) and used its substantialcash flowto finance
furtheracquisitions. As avalue investor, Warren is a sort of Jack-of-all-trades when
it comes to industry knowledge. Berkshire Hathaway is a great example. Buffett
saw a company that was cheap and bought it, regardless of the fact that he wasnt
an expert in textile manufacturing. Over the decades, Warren has bought, held and
sold companies in a variety of different industries
