1. Definition of Public Relation


According to J. Grunig and Hunt, public relation is the
management of communication between an organization
and its public.
From the definition can be explained further into some
components of definitions:
1. Management ( the way how to coordinate the activities to get
the effectiveness)
2. Communication ( all the activities in communicating)
3. Organization ( groups that organized for common purposes
like business, corporation, government agency, or nonprofit
group)
4. Public ( groups of people in the common interest)

2. Function of Public Relations


The function can be categorized by the public with
which relationships are established and to whom it is
made for.
1. Community relations
public relation in community to maintain and enhance
the environment to get benefit for both organization
and community.
2. Employee relations
this have relation with the employee in the organization.
3. Government relations
dealing with legislatures and government agencies on
behalf of an organization.

4. Financial relations
dealing with firms and interest groups within the
organizations industry.
5. Media relations
dealing with the media in which publish or
respond the questions from reporter.
6. Public Affairs
: Dealing with the
government and groups with regard to societal,
policies, action, and legislation.

3. THE COMPONENTS OF PUBLIC


RELATIONS
1. Public
A group of people that have same interests, problems, circumstances, and
goals.
2. Relations
something that human must be create. It is like human make a connection
with other people.
3. Propaganda
the use of symbols that can be used for the publicity and advertising.
4. Campaigns
it is involving the election of a candidate, the promotion of political cause or
issue, the reaching of a sales goal, or the raising of a quota of funds.
5. Lobbying
it is like a group putting its points of view forward in attempt to win the other
groups support.
