504 STUDENTS
SECTION 504 OF THE REHABILITATION ACT: A federal law that
requires a school district to provide a free and appropriate public
education to each child with a disability in the district.
FEDERAL CIVIL RIGHTS LAW: prohibits discrimination against
public school students with disabilities. That includes students with
learning and attention issues who meet certain criteria.
504 FORM:
Documentation of the childs disability (such as a doctors diagnosis:
Diabetes, Crohns, Disease, Concussions, ADHD/ADD, Tourettes
Syndrome)

MCKINNEY-VENTO STUDENTS
The McKinney-Vento Education Homeless Children
and Youth Assistance Act: Federal law that ensures
immediate enrollment and educational stability for
homeless children and youth. McKinney-Vento
provides federal funding to states for the purpose of
supporting district programs that serve homeless
students.
