china are becoming flag bearers of
developing nation.
Various MNCs are coming to India.
In this reverse trend America is loosing high
tech. jobs to India and China.

Today after three years Kunj is in first year at
Harvard Business School.

A student

at Tsinghua University Beijing.

He plan to apply to Harvard for his PhD but
decided against it.
Reason:

His university spending heavily in cutting-edge

research facilities.
Provides even highly educated professors.

The depth and breadth of problem:

Retirement
Less than 6% of American kids like to pursue
engineering degrees.
In 2000, 56% of Chinas 40% of India's
undergraduate degrees were in hard science. In US
the figure was 17%.
By the end of this year India will produce thrice as
many, china will produce six times as many
engineers than USA

The tide nobody can control

The

spotlight is mainly on China and India.

Other smaller countries of Asia is also
challenging America's dominance.
If present trend continues 90 % of all world
scientists and engineers will be living in Asia.

Historical perspective
Initially

Americas talent pool was filled by

jewish emigration and political refugees such
as Albert Einstein ,Edward Teller.
According to noble laureate David Baltimore:
Americas academic papers and prizes won
in the last decade were either authored or
won by foreigners

A created crisis:
Post

9/11 scenario.
Lack of educated teachers at high school
level.
Ignorance shown by American government

Conclusion
The whole world is running a race only
Americans dont know it.
But still no one knows whether or when the
United States will relinquish its lead in that race
against the rest of the world. Or how far back in
the pack they will ultimately fall.
