What is stakeholder?

Stakeholder are people who have a stake in a software project.

Any person afected by the system or who has influence on
system development is stakeholder. (Leszek A. Masciazek (2007).
Requirement analysis. Page 4)

A stakeholder is a person or role that is afected by the system in

some way. Stakeholders have diferent and often inconsistent
needs. These inconsistencies may not be obvious when the
requirements are first specified, so inconsistent requirements are
included in the specification. (Sommerville, Ian (2011). Software
Engineering Ninth Edition, page 103.)
