generally transmitted from parent to child
through one or more generations
It also might result from a new mutation

& Females are equally affected)

Autosomal recessiveis one of several

ways that a trait, disorder, or disease can


be passed down through families
Affected children have parents that possess both
mutant & functioning copy of allele (Affected)
When both parents have one abnormal copy of the
same gene, they have a 25% chance with each
pregnancy that their offspring will have the disorder.
