The Commonwealth Period was a
transition period of the
Philippine government towards
being fully independent from the
United States.

The Commonwealth Period


The National Assembly was a
unicameral committee operating
under the 1935 Constitution. The
National Assembly was the
legislative body with the power
to enact laws known as
Commonwealth Acts.

The Commonwealth Period


The Commonwealth government
was meant to enable the
government to establish laws
needed for a fully functional and
independent state, separate from
that of the United States of
America.

The Commonwealth Period


Some of the priorities of the
Commonwealth included the
Philippine Army (C.A. No. 1), the
National Economic Council (C.A.
No. 2), and the Court of Appeals
(C.A. No. 3).
