Lesson Objective
To know the difference between health
and fitness and how to lead a healthy
active lifestyle.

STARTER
you have no cold, flu, aches or pains and
can run a mile in 6 mins
Does this mean you are fit / healthy, or
both?

Health
Health is A state of physical, mental and social
well being.
Physical = no illnesses, injuries
Mental = Not stressed, controls emotions, self
confidence
Social = Good support network friends, family etc

All 3 areas are linked


E.g. Feeling ill (physical) means you dont go out and
see friends (social) and get down (mental) because
you are missing out.

Components of a Healthy Lifestyle


Good diet
Time to relax
No Smoking
or drugs

Enough sleep
Limited alcohol
Regular exercise

Fitness

Fitness is the ability to meet the demands of your environment.


Everybody's demands are different so several people could be
classed as fit but their level of fitness may be very different.
The common factor between health and fitness is EXERCISE.
Exercise has many benefits;

Social

Physical

Mental

Make friends

Improve body
shape

Increase self
confidence

Social status captain

Efficient body
systems

Relieve stress
