WHAT IS

GIS (Geographic Information System) is an

information system that is based on computer
work to enter, manage, manipulate and analyze
data and provide a description
(Aronoff, 1989)

Application GIS in The Study of Biodiversity

GIS application is needed in this study,

because through this application we can see
the existing biodiversity in the area, so that
we can plan the management in order to
remain sustainable biodiversity

Where?
At Ciliwung
watershed, exactly
in three districts
that are in Ciliwung
upstream, Bogor
(Ciawi District,
Megamendung, and
Cisarua)

Spatial Data that needed

Spatial data is data that identifies graphical appearance

geographic locations such as point lines, and polygons. Spatial
data obtained from the map stored in digital form (numeric)

Other data

There are 25 village in the research location

The large of area is 14.324 hectare
land cover in this region is divided into seven
classes: forest, plantation, shrubs, paddy
fields, fields, settlements and water
bodies
Economic activities continues to shift from
agriculture to non-agriculture

Sustainability Indicators of Biodiversity

1. Existence of Threatened Species
2. Changes of Land Cover and Land Use
3. Intensity of Land Use Organic Farming
4. Total population
5. Resident Jobs
6. Infrastructure

BIODIVERSITY

the carrying capacity of the

landscape to sustain the population
and activity in it

Benefit of GIS Application

To formulate recommendations land
management, including:
Coordination with relevant institution to
facilitate the monitoring and management of
the landscape and the quality of biodiversity
Protection of biodiversity through Law Approach
Land Rehabilitation
Maintaining tea garden area which serves as a
buffer zone
Socialization about the importance of
biodiversity periodically
