Universal Studios History

Universal was founded in 1912 by motion picture visionary
Carl Laemmle, a German immigrant who had a dream of
building a world of entertainment in Southern California.

On March 15th, 1915 Mr. Laemmles dream was realized with

the opening of Universal Studios Hollywood. On that day,
Laemmle issued a press release that predicted not only the
future of Universal Pictures but of the global entertainment
company that would grow out of the movie studio.

Marketing Strategies
One major technique that Universal uses to market their
films, is their industry of the popular attraction and theme
park, Universal Studios.
Through their extremely appealing ride designs and 3D
layouts for their attractions, Universal Studios advertises

and ET (some of their highest grossing films)

Marketing
for
X-Men
Apocalypse
In July 2015, Singer, Lee, Hugh Jackman and cast-members McAvoy,
Fassbender, Lawrence, Isaac, Hoult, Munn, Peters, Smit-McPhee, Turner,
Sheridan, Shipp, Condor, Till and Hardy gave a presentation at the 2015 San
Diego Comic-Con International, together with the release of the film's first
teaser poster, featuring En Sabah Nur and a wreckage of the X-Mansion.

This is important for the marketing, since X-Men originated as a comic book
series, a large part of the audience are going to be that of comic book readers,
so them attending a Comic Book Convention is appropriate.

In October 2015, Mars Chocolate partnered with 20th Century Fox for the
marketing of the film, using M&M chocolates in their promotional materials.
The deal included retail displays and special packaging markings, TV and
cinema commercials, and social media posts featuring M&M's characters mixed
with elements of the X-Men. The first image of M&M candies wearing Storm
and Magneto costumes was released on the day of the announcement.

In December 2015, Kia Motors collaborated with 20th Century Fox to create a
custom Kia Sportage to promote the film. Designed after Mystique, one of the
main characters of X-Men Apocalypse, and the car was revealed at the 2016
Australian Open.

Production
Principal photography and production began on April 10,
2014, at the Honolulu Zoo in Hawaii. Filming continued
for four weeks on Oahu. At the end of April, filming took
place at the Hawaii Convention Center. Filming moved to
Kauai on May 15, 2014, and concluded there on June 6,
2014.

Filming resumed that day at New Orleans' abandoned

Six Flags theme park; filming continued there for
approximately two weeks. Jurassic World's Main Street
and boardwalk, measuring 300 feet by 200 feet, was
constructed in the Six Flags parking lot, but the theme
park itself was not used for filming.

Production
Filming was scheduled to remain in Louisiana for eleven weeks.
On June 30, 2014, filming took place at Louis Armstrong
International Airport in New Orleans; actors Nick Robinson, Ty
Simpkins, and Judy Greer were reported to be present. An
evacuation scene was filmed at the Audubon Zoo in New
Orleans.Swamp scenes were filmed in Slidell, Louisiana

A majority of the filming in New Orleans took place at Big Easy

Studios inside NASA's Michoud Assembly Facility complex in East
New Orleans. Jurassic World shot in Louisiana to take advantage
of the state's tax incentives, making it the first film in the series not
to be shot at studios in Los Angeles. On August 5, 2014, director
Colin Trevorrow announced on Twitter that filming had wrapped
after a 78-day shoot. The film was shot under the codename of Ebb
Tide, a title chosen by Spielberg before Trevorrow was hired.

Technology
Jurassic World is the first film in the series without the involvement
of Stan Winston, who died in 2008. Instead the animatronic
dinosaurs were handled by Winston's former alumni at Legacy
Effects, many of whom had worked in the previous three films.
Ultimately, Legacy Effects contributed lighting reference models as
well as a practically built animatronic Apatosaurus that was used
for a sequence filmed in Hawaii.

Visual effects supervisor Phil Tippett and Industrial Light and

Magic also returned to create CGI dinosaurs. While Tim Alexander
served as visual effects supervisor, Jurassic Park supervisor
Dennis Muren provided various advice to the ILM crew, such as
how to light the dinosaurs

Technology
The computer generated dinosaurs were created using
performance capture, using human actors to perform the
dinosaurs' movements. Developing the raptors had the
collaboration of Image Engine, which finished the scenes
using the motion capture information and ILM's dinosaur
models. Legacy Effects also provided one of the full-sized
raptor models built for Jurassic Park to the ILM crew as
reference.

Distribution
Jurassic World was released on DVD, Blu-ray,
and Blu-ray 3D on October 20, 2015. Upon
release, it sold nearly three million Blu-ray and
DVD units in its first week, making it the highestselling home entertainment live-action film both
for Universal and of 2015.

At the end of 2015, it was named the secondhighest selling video of the year in the UK, selling
1.05 million copies since its release. It was the
third-highest-selling DVD and the second-highestselling Blu-ray in the country.

Movie

Marketing
This poster appeals to various types of fans,
such as audience members that enjoy action,
suspense, and those who are a fan of the original
Jurassic Park series.

The poster features the main subject of the

movie-the dinosaur rex, which appeals to the fans
of the Jurassic Park series.

Marketing
People appreciated the darker side of Jurassic Park in
some parts; in others it was a four-quadrant movie. In
places like South Korea and Japan it was all about the
experience and the wonder of an actual park being
opened and what would that look like and the science
appealed to some markets.
The marketers took into account of the audience they
were appealing to, and tried to market towards those
demographics.
