Increasing Cost
Sparce Reasources

Biofuel
By: Holly Vance

What are Biofuels?

Fuel that come from organic matter
Types of Biofuel
Bioethanol(straches wheet, corn etc.)
Biodisel(oils and fats)
Green disel(hydrocracking oils)
Biogas(methane from alge etc.)
Soild biomass

Pros and Cons

Advantages
Widespread acess
Low emissions
Low spill contaimenation

Hydropower Energy
By: Matthew Mick

Hydrothermal Energy: What is it?

Is a form of renewable energy that uses water stored in dams and
flowing rivers to create electricity in hydropower plants

How it works
Hydropower plants capture the energy from falling water, a
turbine converts the energy into mechanical energy, then a
generator converts the mechanical energy to electrical energy.

PROS/CONS
Pros
-Renewable
-Green- non pollution
-Flexible- Can adjust water flow and output of electricity
when power consumption low, water flow is reduced, so they can conserve the power consumption when
it is high.
Cons
- Environmental consequences- can cause change in water flow also construction of roads and powerlines
- Expensive- making the power plant, but it doesnt require a lot of work and maintenance is low
- Droughts- prices are directly based on how much water is avliable

How Practical is it?

Best places for hydroelectricity is where there is large bodies of water with fast flowing rivers, this
produces the most hydroelectricity energy.

Bonneville DamThree Gorges Dam Hoover Dam

Located in Oregon located in China located in Nevada
-20 turbines that generates - largest hydroelectric power - produces about 4.5 billion kilowatts More than
100 million watts plant that has 26 turbines that
Per year generates more than a billion
megawatts per year
-produces about 20 times the power
of the Hoover Dam

How can we help?

Use your own form of alternative energy
Support research for alternative energy
Help get rid of proventive measures by power companies
