Child abuse can be both


physical maltreatment or
sexual molestation of a
child.

Statistics

A report of child abuse is made every ten


seconds.
More than 3.6 million referrals are made to child
protection agencies every year.
In the United States four to seven children are
lost every day due to child abuse. Over 70% of
these children are below the age of 3.
1 out of 3 girls and 1 out of 5 boys will be
sexually abused before they reach age 18.
90% of child sexual abuse victims know the
perpetrator in some way. 68% are abused by a
family member.
