ABSTRACT
This

work intends to improve performance of Li-ion

polymer
batteries through advanced gel polymer electrolytes (GPEs).
Electrospun

nanofiber membranes have been extensively studied

as separators in Li-ion batteries due to their large porosity, unique
pore structure, and high electrolyte uptake.
Modified

polymers improve the ionic conductivity

WORKPLAN

To analysis the various materials for making polymer electrolytes

by collecting various literature survey.
Design the experiment for development of polymer electrolyte
Prepare the polymer solution to produce nanofibres using
electrospinning
Modification of fibrous mat with chemical modifiers
Characterization of materials
1.Scanning Electron Microscopy(SEM)
2.Transition Electron Microscopy(TEM)
3.Fourier Transform Infrared Spectrscopy(FTIR)

PREAPARATION OF POLYMER SOLUTION

Polymer solution can be prepared by GRAFTING
TECHNIQUE by ATRP(Atom Transfer radical
polymerisation) process.
MATERIAL SELECTION:
PVDF which is initiated by ATRP which comprises of
1) monomer,
2)transition metal ion and
3)a ligand.

WORK PROGRESS

Polymer solution prepared by the following procedure

1.Pvdf about 2grams dissolved in DMA (20ML).

2.From that pvdf solution,ATRP technique has been carried out by
adding catalyst(CuBr-0.05g), ligand(2,2 bipyridine-0.05ml) and
the monomer(pentaerithritol tryacrlate-1gm) and then nitrogen gas
has been purged in that mixture to avoid exothermic reaction.
Finally the mixture gets dissoved as a homogenous mixture.

A gelled electrospun PVDF-HFP NFs membrane. The separator
exhibited the liquid-like conductivity of 2.9Scm1 at ambient
conditions.
It was used as a separator in LIBs, where full-cell electrospun TiNb 2O7
and LiMn2O4 acted as anode and cathode.

It was reported that the PVDF-HFP-g-PSSA copolymer membrane
showed the ion exchange capacity value ranging from 0.045 to
0.272 mEq g-1 and the proton conductivity varies from 1.85x10 -4
to 9.8 x10 -4Sm-1 .
