Definition
Full-Day
Kindergarten(FDK) is a
provincial education
program that provides 4
and 5 year olds with afull
dayof learning in schools,
including a supervised
lunch break. Children in
FDK are in an engaging,
play-based program in
their school that is staffed
by a teacher and a
Registered Early Childhood
Educator (RECE).
OUTDOOR ENVIRONMENT
In Kindergarten the classroom
environment is thoughtfully
designed to invite, provoke,
and enhance learning, and to
encourage communication,
collaboration, and inquiry.
The educators' anticipation
and recognition of the
children's learning needs
throughout the day and over
time, based on their
observations and analysis
(assessmentforlearning),
also drive the collaborative
creation of the environment
How Outdoor Play Environments
Contribute to Childrens Development
We often here adults saying
oh, the children are just
outside playing or children
saying I dont want to go
outdoors. I want to play with.
We also hear many adults
suggest that children learn far
more indoors than outdoors.
Research is telling us that
outdoor play offers children far
more learning opportunities
than indoor environments.
Below, I provide an overview of
some of the key attributes
children gain from outdoor
play.

IMPORTANCE OG PEDAGOGY
HOW CHILDREN LEARN IN THE
ENVIRONMENT
The environment we are in affects
our moods, ability to form
relationships, effectiveness in work or
playeven our health. In addition,
the early childhood group
environment has a very crucial role in
childrens learning and development
for two important reasons.
1.Young children are in the process of
rapid brain development Childrens
experiences help to make this
determination.
2. early childhood group environment
has such a strong role in childrens
development is because of the
amount of time children spend in
these environments.
