The new capital
was in a good
location, where
the Irrawaddy
and Myitnge
rivers meet.
It was also
centrally
located.
A canal was dug on two
sides, making it an
artificial island.
Inwa was capital
off and on for
almost 500
years, between
1365 and 1842.
