Rule 1: Courtesy and
Respect
Just because the internet gives you
anonymity online, doesnt mean its
okay to treat people differently than
you would if you were face to face with
them
Show common courtesy and respect
online, just like you would in person
Dont be a cyber bully, and do your
part to prevent it
Rule 2: Watch what you post
online
Never post anything you wouldnt want
your Mom to see
Anyone can access your information some
how, some way, once it hits the internet.
Be mindful of what you associate with
yourself with online
Avoid posting things of sexual or vulgar
nature, or photos of you with
alcohol/drugs.
Rule 3: Identify yourself

Begin messages with a salutation,


and end with your name
Use a signature
Rule 4: Avoid Sarcasm

Sarcasm doesnt translate well

people who dont know you or your
personality
Rule 5: Respect Privacy

Dont copy or quote personal


messages without the authors

Dont contribute to worthless


information thats flooding the
internet (e.g. Fake news articles)
