Introduction

Battery- It is an energy storage

device.
A paper battery is flexible and thin.
It is a combination of carbon
nanotube with a convectional sheet
of cellulose-based paper.
A paper battery acts as both a high-
energy battery and super capacitor.
This combination allows the battery
to provide both long-term, steady
Principle

This battery produces electricity similar to Li-ion

battery but all the components are incorporated
into sheet of cellulose paper.
The devices are formed by combining cellulose
with an infusion of aligned carbon nanotubes.
Cutting one in half, halves its energy
production. Stacking them multiplies power
output.
The electrolyte and the ions that carry the
charge can be varied depending the use of the
battery.
Construction
Carbon Nanotube (CNT) is used as
Cathode.
Lithium metal (Li+) is used
as a Anode.
Paper i.e. Cellulose is used
as a separator.
All electrolytes including
bio-electrolytes like blood,
sweat and urine etc. are used.
Working
The nanotubes acting as electrodes allow the
storage device to conduct electricity.
Chemical reaction in battery is occurs between
electrolyte and carbon nanotubes.
The Paper battery works once the paper is
dipped within the ion-based liquid solution.
The electrons move from the cathode to anode to
generate electricity.
The most effective methodology to extend the
output of the battery is to stack totally different
paper batteries one over the opposite.
Advantages
It is very light weight, ultra thin, cheap and
flexible.
It can operate over large range of
temperature.
It has a shelf life of 3 years.
It can work as a super capacitor.
They are ecofriendly device made up of non
toxic material.
They are biodegradable and bio compatible
batteries.
Advantages
These are having high tensile
strength.
The voltages can be adjusted
through stacking and slicing.
It is light weight.
It is easily moldable into desired
shapes & sizes.
It can be recharged upto 300 times.
They can be easily recycled and
reused.
Limitations
Nanotubes made from carbon are
expensive due to use of procedures
like electrolysis and laser ablation.
Should not be inhaled, as they can
damage lungs.
They are having low shear strength
and can be torn easily.
These Batteries generates a E-
wastage.
