SOLAR POWER

PLANT
INTRODUCTION:
Solar poweris the generation
ofelectricityfromsunlight. This
can be direct as withphotovoltaics
(PV), or indirect as with
concentrating solar power(CSP)
Solar energy is the form of
electromagnetic radiation emitted
from the sun ,but especially that
the part of their energy that is
converted into THERMAL or
ELECTRICAL energy on earth
PHOTOVOLTAICS:
Photovoltaics(PVs) are arrays
of cells containing a solar
photovoltaic material that
convertssolar radiationinto
direct currentelectricity.
Materials presently used for
photovoltaics include
monocrystalline silicon,
polycrystalline silicon,
amorphous silicon,
CONCENTRATING
SOLAR POWER
PLANT
Concentrated solar power(CSP)
systems use lenses or mirrors to focus a
large area of sunlight onto a small area.
Electrical power is produced when the
concentrated light is directed onto
photovoltaicsurfaces or used to heat a
transfer fluid for a conventional power
plant.

HOW MUCH
SOLAR ENERGY?

The surface receives about 47% of the

total solar energy that reaches the
Earth. Only this amount is usable.
HEATING WATER:
ACTIVE SYSTEM

Active System uses antifreeze so that the

liquid does not freeze if outside temp. drops
